MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** G’day crew, thanks for dropping in for the baliwaves.com daily surf and weather report. Dewa and Slim were down checking on surfing conditions on the Outer Reefs at 7.30 this morning for ya’s, and wave height has back peddled dropping down into the 1-3ft range. The wind was howling outta the ESE @ 12-15knot range, off-shore between Legian and Uluwatu. The tide was on the bottom of the Low and just about to start running back in. Kuta Reef was breaking in the 1-2ft class, peeling perfectly but no one was out there at the time. Middle Reef was doing slightly better in size with 1-3 footers with maybe the odd bigger freak set. Middle Reef is better suited to the Low tide. There were a couple of surfers out there picking off the good ones. Airport Left had 1-2 footers and there looked to be quite a few surfers out there, maybe 10-15 all up. Weather wise the sky is clouded up and the strong off-shore wind is keeping the temperature down in the mid twenties. I also noticed that the yesterdays water temperature was more like 20-21 degree’s Celsius, a touch cooler than usual. The best bet for a wave this morning would be down at Uluwatu where you’d be able to find a bit more size and power, probably in the 3-4ft+ range. The beach breaks up along the Kuta to Legian stretch would also be worth a look later on when the tide runs back in. I’m also thinking that anytime in the next 24hrs we should start to see the next swell system appearing on the reef and beach breaks around Bali . I’ll keep ya’s upta date as soon as it shows up ! Have a good one and remember, it’s never to late for a surfing holiday in Bali ! And don’t forget to check out the Mentawai Surf Report from the guys at Kandui Surf Resort. Lakey Peak on the island of Sumbawa ; Onky has filed his sms observations on what’s happening over at lakey Peak this morning. At 7.00am the wind was blowing lightly off-shore and the tide was on the bottom of a 0.8 low. Wave height out on Lakey Peak was pushing 2-3ft and there some nice head high waves breaking both left and right. There 20 surfers hooking into em at the time. No one was surfing at lakey Pipe, Nanga’s or Periscopes . Onky’s head count of the total number of visiting surfers at Lakey’s has hit 130. That’s pretty much the normal number for this time of the year, seeing as though we are right in the middle of “Peak Season”. For anyone want ing to try out Lakey Peak make sure you check the tidal information before you head over there. It’s pretty important that you line up your time there while the High Tide is happening through the early am and then progressing forward each day. That way you’ll be assured of scoring perfection. Merpati Airlines are flying there daily from Bali and you can buy your tickets from a 1000 different travel agents anywhere in Bali (and save yourselves some dollars by doing it on your pat malone) Once your in Bima there’s transport drivers waiting to take you to Lakey Peak for around Rp500,000 per van, and that’s split between the surfers. Then ya got a range of Hotels to choose from all right in front of the waves, ranging from low low budget to the very very comfortable rooms of the Aman Gati Hotel. Plus ya can always drop us an email for more information on getting across to lakey’s
