AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE **** Howdy crew and sorry to keep ya’s waiting for the daily dose of Bali surf and weather info but there’s been a lot happening. And it all started down at Padang Padang yesterday for the finals of the Rip Curl Cup ’07 . We arrived down there just as the first heat was hitting the water at 7.00am. There was plenty of swell but no where near as big as some people were calling it. The tide was just coming off a mid range Low tide and rapidly running up for a solid 2.5mtr High just before lunch. Wave height was averaging around the 4-5ft mark but every now and again a bigger bomb set would come through. I’ve just cut some frames out of the video I was shooting but I’ll have the actual video clips ready for ya’s by later this evening ok. There was some sick surfing happening I tell ya’s but it was a bit of a pity Padang Padang never showed us her full potential surf wise. Anyway ya’s will get the pcture when I start throwing the video clips up, and there will be at least 10 of them ! This morning when we went down for the morning surf recon of the Outer Reefs wave height was still holding in the 4-6ft range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left . Tide wise there was a 0.5mtr Low at 6.00am and then another big 2.4mtr High at midday. The wind was a bit variable at the time and surfing conditions were still clean enough. Kuta Reef was cranking out a consistent 3-5ft and peeling off for 80-100yrds. Middle Reef was best through the early morning before the tide fatten it up, and will be good again later this afternoon on the run out tide. I was also taking to a friend who took advantage of the light and variable wind and snuck over to Sanur Reef . He reckoned it was pretty good at 3-4ft+, but the best thing was there was only 4 other surfers in the water. Weather wise it’s been a typical dry season day in Bali , blue sky and hot and sunny. Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta you’ll find that; — 1AU$=Rp7,900 – 1NZ$=Rp7,150 – 1US$=Rp9,150 – 1EU$=Rp 12,050. Ok my friends I’ve gotta get stuck back into some video editing so check in later this evening and I should have something to show ya’s Other wise I’ll be back with surf and weather info for ya’s first thing tomorrow morning. All the best from beautiful Bali , the place to be when your in need of a surfing holiday.
