Howdy folks. Well that swell is still hanging around.
Saturday the 25th was the peak of the swell and the rain as well……… it poured down all day. A lot of the sand has washed out into the bay and created a solid sand bank all the way from Snapper to Kirra. Only problem is there is almost too much sand. Probably the most sand I’ve seen at the Superbank. There are big mushy sets breaking out wide in the bay and the section from Snapper to Greenmount (about 200m metres) is kind of fat and wally and then the next 2 – 300 metres from Greeny down to “big groyne at Kirra” its barrelling all the way if you pick the right one.
Sunday the 26th dawned clear and sunny and so far today (27th) the waves have been clean with a few barrels still on offer.
It’s a matter of picking the tide… some sections break better on the high tide and some on the low.. But the waves so long your pretty much assured of finding something barreliing between Snapper rocks and Kirra.
I’ll be back down there in a few hours and will get some fresh pics so tune in tomorrow.
If you’ve got the munchies drop in to Dee and Paul’s Rainbow Bay cafe and try out there burgers. The best on the coast!! While you’re waiting for your meal, check out some of the photos on the wall and you’ll see some great old shots of some of the locals … famous and some not so famous. Local guys like Mick F, Josh Kerr, Deano and Parko grew up on their chips and burgers.
