Bali Surf Report – August 30 2007

MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Hello reef riders and thanks for stopping by the baliwaves for the run down on todays surf and weather conditions around Bali . I also better give my photographer friends from down at Ululwatu, Ari & Hendra a big thank you for helping us out with these current photos. I went down for a surf recon of the Outer Reefs of Tuban at 7.00am and there’s still plenty of waves out there again today. Wave height between Kuta Reef and Airports has dropped off a fraction from yesterday but still ranging from 2-4ft. The tide was still relatively low at the time but was running in on the way for 2.4mtr High @ midday . Kuta Reef was peeling off some semi long rides upta 80yrds @ 2-3ft+ and there were a few surfers already out there having fun. Middle Reef was the best in my opinion with more size, power and better suited to the lower end of the tide. Airport Left had 2-3 footers and attracting the most surfer traffic with something like 20-25 surfers in the line up. Weather wise the wind is coming outta the ENE @ 6-9knot and off-shore from Medewi right down the coast to Uluwatu . But I’d be banking on it to shift back around the ESE-SE Tradewind and increasing in strength by late morning. We’ve also got a mixture of cloud and blue sky upstairs but all in all it’s just gunna be another warm to hot day on the happy little holiday island of Bali. Using the Outer Reefs as my surf indicator I’d be calling for waves in the 3-4ft range down at Balangan and probably worth a look before the tide peaks. Uluwatu would still have to be in the double head high class and picking up the biggest wave size on the island. Later this afternoon as the tide runs back out for a 0.1mtr Low around sunset you’d be able to choose from locations like Middle Reef, Impossible’s, Bingin or for some Racetrack super tubes at Uluwatu . Me I’m gunna find the time for a quick paddle here in Tuban and then I wanna have a look at some video footage we shot doing a road trip up to the Northern end of Bali last week. So I’ll try and cut ya’s a couple of new clips so ya can have a glimpse of some Balinese scenery. On the new swell side of things everythings looking good and hopefully sometime in the next 24-36hrs well see some solid walls hitting Bali ’s reef and beach breaks.
