Bali Surf Report – August 5 2007

MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Howdy folks and thanks for dropping in for the baliwaves.com SUNDAY SESSION . Well there’s certainly been no shortage of weird weather happening this year. Here we are smack dead in the middle of our DRY Season where there’s supposed to be nothing but blue sky and sunshine. But this morning it’s been absolutely pissing down rain and has just let up now at 9.00am. It’s let up here in Tuban but there’s still some big black clouds hanging around to the South towards the Uluwatu region. Rain, hail or shine was the call this morning when I went down for the surf recon on the Outer Reefs , and soaking wet I was when I got back to Home Base . Wave height has taken another hit this morning but there’s still something out there to ride between Kuta Reef and Airport left . The tide was just about on the bottom of another 0.5mtr Low @ 8.30am so Middle Reef was looking the best outta the big 3. Kuta Reef had the odd waist to shoulder high set peeling off and will improve a touch around 10.00am or there abouts as the tide fill in a bit more . Middle Reef was still handing out head high waves and there were a few takers out there receiving em. Airport Left was only breaking in the knee to waist high class but will get a little bit better with more water over the reef. I had my hopes on riding the bike down to Uluwatu this morning to see what was happening on the low tide Racetrack section. But I gotta re think that idea with the &#$%^@* rain situation. But Uluwatu would be the best bet for paddle today for sure. The wind is blowing off-shore between Legian and Uluwatu coming outta the ESE-SE @ 3-6knot so surfing conditions are clean. The swell prediction charts are calling for a new swell to start showing on Bali ’s reef and beach breaks sometime over the next 24-36hrs so there’s gunna be plenty of surfing action happening over the coming week. Yesterday Dan sent us in some new photos from the SUPER BANK featuring some famous surfing identities, and you’ll find them on the Super Bank report page. We also got some new ones from the lad at the Kandui Surf Resort up in the MENTAWAI’S . Plus I’m gunna pull my finger out and get ya’s some more VIDEO CLIPS loaded up from the RIP CURL CUP at PADANG PADANG over the next few hours. But if the sun comes out and the rain pisses off long enough I’m still keen as mustard to go down to Uluwatu for some photos. Ok then that’s it, you lot have a good one and make the most of what’s left of the weekend. And remember the Peak Holiday Season for Bali winds up at the end of this month.
