AFTERNOON UP-DATE **** Howdy surfers, thanks for hanging around to see what’s been happening surf and weather wise here on this surf riddled tropical holiday island of Bali . I started the day of with a surf check of the Outer Reefs in Tuban. As I expected wave height had dropped off a couple of feet from yesterday but there were still plenty of waves breaking in the 2-5ft range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left . The tide was still pretty good for Kuta Reef at 7.00am, around 1.7mtr mark and there was already something like 25-30 surfers in the line up. Wave height was averaging in the 2-3ft+ range and peeling off for a good 80+ yards or so. Middle Reef was still picking up the occasional double head high set wave and there only appeared to be a handful of riders out there. Middle’s woulda kept improving as the tide ran down for the 0.8mtr Low @ 11.00am . Airport Left also had some nice waves in the 2-3ft+ class but no where near as perfect as old Kuta Reef, an only peeling off for 20-30 yrds at the most. The wind has been blowing outta the ESE-SE @ 8-12knot+ since dawn, off-shore between Legian and Uluwatu. After checking the situation on the Outer Reefs I made a bee line down to Uluwatu to find wave height still thumping through in the 4-6ft range. But conditions were not the best and there were only 6 surfers in the water at 10.30am. From there I back tracked to Padang Padang where wave height was coming through in the 3-4ft+ range. At first there were only 2 surfers and 2 body boarders in the water but as the tide started to run back in pretty soon it was bodyboard city . That’s where these latest photos were taken, plus I’ve also got a heap to load up into the BodyBoarding Page for our lidder friends. I also had Dewa Made along for the show and he managed to shoot ya’s 10 minutes or so of Digital Video that will find it’s way onto the baliwaves.com sooner or later over the next 12 hours. A couple of the boys from Home Base were surfing at Balangan and they sms’d through to me that there were plenty of waves peeling down the point in the 3-5ft range and not too bad at all with only 25 surfers in the water. Weather wise it’s been stinking hot outta the shade (that’s we were..) with the mercury easy busting into the low thirties on the Celsius scale. Ok friends I’ve gotta keep plugging away with some more photo and video editing for now but hey if ya got any queries about anything related with surfing around these parts of Indo feel free to drop us an email via the CONTACT link and I’ll do my best to help ya out. Catch ya’s again tomorrow with more of the latest surf and weather info to come outta Bali .
