Bali Surf Report – September 24 2007

**** Good morning everybody and thanks for stopping by to see whats happening on the surfing and weather scene here in Bali today. Firstly lets get this straight, I’m not the kinda person who goes around blabbing about secret surf spots . And even though I’ve been mentioning Airport Rights on baliwaves.com for at least 10 years . And not too mention it’s also in black and white in every surf guide book ever printed. And that it also rates a mention on just about every Bali surfing type website on the entire internet . So why does some Aussie surfer ? named James Pitman (if that is his real name) wanna make death threats to me for yesterdays surf report about exposing his exclusive surf spot . Apparantly Jamie doesn’t want any “tourists” other than himself around at Airport Rights ? I told my Balinese boat driving friends about this absurdity down the beach this morning and at first they laughed, then they got real pissed off about this freak not wanting them to earn a living. Lets face it crew there are no secret surf spots from Canggu to Uluwatu along Bali ’s West Coast. And for farks sake don’t make the mistake of thinking you’re a local unless your name is; Wayan, Made, Nyoman or Ketut etc etc. Ok now we can get on with what we do. This morning’s surf check of the Outer Reefs went down at 7.00am . The tide was still running in for a 1.9mtr High tide set for 9.00am and the wind was only just showing outta the West at 0-1knot . On-shore along Bali ’s West Coast but surfing conditions are still pretty well clean and glassy from Kuta Reef to Airport Right . I’d even go as far as saying that wave height has snuck up a touch on yesterday, or maybe a bit more consistently at 2-3ft+ . Kuta Reef had a few surfers in the water and there were set waves breaking in the shoulder to head high range. But Middle Reef and Airport Left were getting more action with a more consistent 2-3ft+ (shoulder to head high plus). There’s have to be some ok waves back around at Airport Rights as well but you could expect Team Japan to be there in numbers, as usual. Further down the coast you’d find more waves at Balangan, Dreamland and of course Uluwatu would probably be pushing 4-5ft on the Main Peak and Temple sections . Later this afternoon when the tide gets down towards the expected 0.5mtr Low (3.00pm) then you’d also find locations like Bingin and the Racetrack at Uluwatu would be offering some more tubular type waves. Weather wise we’ve still got plenty of high and light cloud over us, but there is every chance that the mercury will still bust into the early 30’s on the Celsius scale , and hot. Yesterday I did manage to load 30 new photos into the September Surfing Gallery and I’ll get a heap more in there ya’s as soon as this is on-line. Our man Scotty. T who has been helping out with photos hit the road at dawn this morning so I’ve got no idea where he’s at, but hopefully he’ll be back later on with another batch of surfing photos from somewhere in Bali .
