Kandui Surf Resort, Mentawai islands Oct 17th surf report. Well, I think I jinxed it yesterday when I commented on what good conditions we were having. Today we had stormy skies and the wind was swirling from just about every direction. It seemed to settle in when the wind blew out of the north for a bit so we sent a boat to Bankvaults. It was offshore there and there was some size, probably double-overhead plus, but it was still pretty sick from the storm so the boys went over to Nipusi where it was still pretty big and offshore and a lot more manageable. It wasn’t long before the wind switched to southwest at around 10 mph plus and it stayed that way for the rest of the day. 4 Bobs was the place to be with some fun overhead sets coming through and the southwest, side-offshore winds were treating it right. We have 4 goofyfoots leaving tomorrow and they were frothing for a left so we took them to Beng Beng. It was side-onshore but still pretty smooth on the overhead faces so they had a fun, long last session before heading back for some happy hour Bintangs. Expecting dropping swell for tomorrow.
