**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Hello friends of Bali and welcome to another surfing week here on the happy little holiday island. Hey not bad waves down at Uluwatu yesterday , Scott got us some nice little picky’s to perouse I have to say. Scott reckoned the crowd leveled off at around 30 surfers spread through out the line up for the 4 hours that he was down there. This morning he’s off to a different location so we’ll have some more quality photos for ya’s after lunch. I got off to a later than usual start this morning and never made it down for a surf check until 7.00am . But things are looking good surfwise on the Outer Reefs with another little increase in wave height. The tide was right on the top of a 1.7mtr High and will run out for a 0.7mtr Low around 1.00pm. The wind was pretty well non existent at the time but I’m thinking it’ll be similar to yesterday coming outta the ESE-SE and off-shore between Legian and Uluwatu. Kuta Reef already had half a dozen surfers out there catching waves in the shoulder to head high class . Middle Reef was faring slightly better with the odd 4 footer breaking and will on through the out going tide. Airport Left was producing some consistent 3 footers (head high) and I’d also imagine that there would be a few shoulder high waves breaking around the other side of the airport runway on Airport Right . While the wind is still light and the tide high Canggu would also have to be doing ok. Down south on the “bukit” you’d find waves from Balangan all the way down to Uluwatu .
Weather wise outside we have got a mainly blue sky with just the odd bitta light cloud hovering around. Right now at 9.00am the temperature would be hanging around the 26 degree Celsius mark and should max around 32 C by early afternoon. The water temperature is warming up as well with the changing of the seasons and is perfect for board shorts or bikini’s at 24 degree’s celcius. Looking at the swell prediction websites and after todays little pulse I think we’ll be seeing a return of the “yo-yo syndrome” where wave height just goes up and down in the 1-3ft+ range on a daily basis for at least the next 4-6 days.
Yesterday we also managed to load ya’s up 100 photos into the October Surf Gallery and we’ve still got another 100 or so to get in there over the next week. I’ve also got a solid batch of bodyboarding photos to load up on your page that feature some sick tube riding from down on Uluwatu’s racetrack section.
Now on a serious note ; I’m stoked that our Scholarship Program for underprivileged Balinese kids has done so well, THANKS BIG TIME to all the big hearted people who have got behind us and helped out. Now I’ve got a new program that I’d like to kick off. One that we can control and keep constant progress up-dates on. I’m talking about kinda adopting a school up in one of the area’s of Bali where there’s no cash flow from tourism and hardly any from anything else for that matter. The kids don’t have to pay school fees, because their Mum and Dad’s don’t have any money to pay. Half, or more of the kids that attend don’t even have shoes to wear to school and walk up to 4km’s bare footed to get there. Now in my opinion this is a worthy project for us to think about. What I’d like to start off with is trying to raise enough cash to get electricity hooked up to the school, with electricity we can then look at a lot of other basic stuff, like a water pump etc etc etc. Over the next few days I’m going to try and set up a page with more information on this project. But please if anyone would like to help me out with this noble cause don’t hesitate to send me an email via the “CONTACT” link at the bottom of this page, thanks.
