**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Hello folks, and it’s time to find out whats on surf and weather wise for the lucky surfers here in Bali today. I made my first surf check of the Outer Reefs at 6.30am to find that wave height has kicked back up into the 2-4ft range between Kuta Reef and Airports, yo-yo effect.
The tide was on the run in for 1.9mtr High set to peak around 9.00am and then run out for a 0.5mtr Low around mid afternoon. And seeing as though we have got a Full Moon rising tomorrow night we will start to see some solid tide range between the High and Low over the next 4 days. The was hardly any wind present at the time, only just detecable coming outta the WNW @ 1knot .
Kuta Reef had waves breaking in the waist to head high range but there was a bit of a wait between the sets and not much else breaking in between. The tide was getting a bit full for Middle Reef but as it starts to run out Middle’s should be providing fun in the shoulder to head high plus division. Airport Left had a few ok waves coming through at shoulder to head high and was breaking more consistently than Kuta Reef. So with the slight increase in size today you’d be able to find a few waves down at Balangan, Dreamland and of course Uluwatu would be the best bet. Bingin might have a few small ones later this afternoon on the lower end of the tide as well. Also while the wind is still light and variable this morning I couldn’t see any reason not to head over to the East Coast and find a few right handers anywhere between Nusa Dua and Keramas. So hey if it’s variety ya want this is the time of the year to be on holiday in Bali .
Weather wise out there today it’s another sunny start with just a touch of thin cloud cloud floating about. No need to tell ya’s about sun screen etc that’s a job for mum and dads to tell their kids. While the temperature will easily be busting into the low 30’s on the Celsius Scale by midday. I made it in for a swim yesterday and the water was just perfect, not too cold and not too warm, somewhere around that magic 22-23 degree Celsius mark.
OK so there we have it, there’s plenty of options for a paddle, the sun is shining and the water is warm. Our guest photographer Scott Thompson from Australia has also started to file his own surf report in the “READERS REPORT” page so make sure ya check out what Scott has been upto.
Now on a serious note ; I’m stoked that our Scholarship Program for underprivileged Balinese kids has done so well, THANKS BIG TIME to all the big hearted people who have got behind us and helped out. Now I’ve got a new program that I’d like to kick off. One that we can control and keep constant progress up-dates on. I’m talking about kinda adopting a school up in one of the area’s of Bali where there’s no cash flow from tourism and hardly any from anything else for that matter. The kids don’t have to pay school fees, because their Mum and Dad’s don’t have any money to pay. Half, or more of the kids that attend don’t even have shoes to wear to school and walk up to 4km’s bare footed to get there. Now in my opinion this is a worthy project for us to think about. What I’d like to start off with is trying to raise enough cash to get electricity hooked up to the school, with electricity we can then look at a lot of other basic stuff, like a water pump etc etc etc. Over the next few days I’m going to try and set up a page with more information on this project. But please if anyone would like to help me out with this noble cause don’t hesitate to send me an email via the “CONTACT” link at the bottom of this page, thanks.
Special Thanks to Bryan & Trish Ryder, Rosemary Ryan, Team Panadol, Karina Pols, Ron Samuel for already offering support ! So come on folks we only 30-40 of us to chip in and we can get a school hooked up with something we all pretty much take for granted, electricity. Our target neded is Rp10,000,000. that’s around AU$1,250.
