**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Hello hello to all you surfers tuning in for the run down on whats happening surf and weather wise over here in Bali today. I got off to late start this morning and I’ve gotta blame that on the late night movies on TV. Anyway I down at the beach at 7.30am and seeing as though the yo-yo effect is still happening wave height has boosted back into the 2-4ft range between Kuta Reef and Airports.
The tide was pretty high but still had a bit to go before she hits the top of todays 2.1mtr High around 10.30am. The Low tide will bottom out at 0.4mtrs later this afternoon around 4.30pm. Wind direction was just detectable coming outta the NNW @ 0-1knot but has since swung a bit further around to the WNW and increased to 2-3knot+. Surfing conditions were still clean and glassy and Kuta Reef had some nice shaped waves peeling off in the shoulder to head high range. Middle Reef was breaking with a bit more gusto with the set waves breaking a couple of feet over head. Airport left was the most consistent outta the big 3 and she also had the most traffic out there at the time. I also saw a couple of reef taxi’s loaded with Japanese surfers heading around towards Airport Rights . Our man Scotty Thompson has headed back upto Canggu this morning with his camera equipment and I’d have to go along with himand say that it would be a good bet to find some clean left and rights in the 2-4ft range. But you’ll have toi wait until later this arvo to check out his photos ok. Down on the southern end of the island you’d also be able to find waves at Balangan , and Dreamland in the 2-3ft+ range and Uluwatu would have to be pushing double head high out on the Main Peak and Temple sections . With the wind coming outta the WNW the East Coast would also be producing surfing options galore from Nyang Nyangs all the way north to Keramas.
Weather wise more perfect holiday conditions are in place. Loads of blue sky this morning and we’ll be in for a hot one around the beach come midday. Temperature wise the mercury will be well into the 30’s on the Celsius scale and the water temp perfect at 23-24 degree’s Celsius.
Changing dollars to Rupiah out on the streets of Kuta you’ll find exceptionally good holiday value with – 1AU$=Rp8,200 – 1US$=Rp9,175 – 1NZ$=Rp7,600
Now on a serious note ; I’m stoked that our Scholarship Program for underprivileged Balinese kids has done so well, THANKS BIG TIME to all the big hearted people who have got behind us and helped out. Now I’ve got a new program that I’d like to kick off. One that we can control and keep constant progress up-dates on. I’m talking about kinda adopting a school up in one of the area’s of Bali where there’s no cash flow from tourism and hardly any from anything else for that matter. The kids don’t have to pay school fees, because their Mum and Dad’s don’t have any money to pay. Half, or more of the kids that attend don’t even have shoes to wear to school and walk up to 4km’s bare footed or in rubber thongs just to be there. Now in my opinion this is a worthy project for us to think about. What I’d like to start off with is trying to raise enough cash to get electricity hooked up to the school, with electricity we can then look at a lot of other basic stuff, like a water pump etc etc etc. Over the next few days I’m going to try and set up a page with more information on this project. But please if anyone would like to help me out with this noble cause don’t hesitate to send me an email via the “CONTACT” link at the bottom of this page, thanks.
Special Thanks to, Bryan & Trish Ryder, Rosemary Ryan, Team Panadol, Karina Pols, Ron Samuel, Gordon Black, Jesper Stockholm, Nick, The Ando Family, The Pluss Family for already offering support ! So come on folks we only 30-40 of us to chip in and we can get a school hooked up with something we all pretty much take for granted, electricity. Our target neded is Rp10,000,000. that’s around AU$1,250.
Now if only these kind folk can forward their donations we can start to make this thing really happen. Thanks friends.
