**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Good morning friends and welcome back to the baliwaves.com surf and weather report . Well I suppose your wondering where I got to yesterday, right. Well as it was wave height had backed right off and there wasn’t much happening surf wise anywhere along Bali ’s Western Coastline. I was out taking part in the second Bali big game fishing contest so I got to check out every location from the water. Only at Uluwatu was there a bit of a wave for the very keen, or the very small surfer. Wave height down at Ulu was only just pushing the waist to shoulder high range as it was. But the fishing yesterday was pretty good and I’ll try and get some time to write up a report on the days event and post it in our fishing section of baliwaves.com. I also managed to load ya’s a couple of New Video Clips with footage of the local grommets tearing it up at, practicing for the Rip Curl Grom search event that was held and won by Ony Onwa at Keramas last Sunday. I’ve still got one more clip to load up for ya’s as soon as this goes on line.
This morning I was down checking out surfing conditions on the Outer Reefs @ 6.45am and just as predicted we have a brand new swell hitting hard . The tide was just about on the bottom of a 0.1mtr fully reef exposing Low tide , and I reckon ya coulda walked all the way out to Airport left without getting ya feet wet. The wind was coming lightly outta the North but surfing conditions were still clean and smooth. Wave height between Kuta Reef and Airports was rolling through at 4-6ft but some of the bigger sets were maxing out in the 6-8ft range. The tide was way too low for Kuta Reef and Airports and even Middle Reef wasn’t really handling the first day of the new swell. But come mid morning and I reckon Kuta Reef will be pumping and peeling off at head to double head high. This morning it was even breaking way out in the middle of Legian Bay , locally known as “Karang Tengah” . The next high tide will be 1.9mtrs just after lunch around the 1.00pm mark. Hopefully the wind will swing around to the ESE-SE quadrant later on but we’ll have to wait and see.
Weather wise there’s no sign of any rain, or any clouds for the matter just blue sky and sunshine is the order of the day. We can expect another hot and humid day along the beach and what else would ya want if you were on holiday in Bali . Temperature wise the mercury will be into the low to mid 30’s on the Celsius scale and the water temperature is perfect at 24 degree’s Celsius.
Now on a serious note ; I’m stoked that our Scholarship Program for underprivileged Balinese kids has done so well, THANKS BIG TIME to all the big hearted people who have got behind us and helped out. Now I’ve got a new program that I’d like to kick off. One that we can control and keep constant progress up-dates on. I’m talking about kinda adopting a school up in one of the area’s of Bali where there’s no cash flow from tourism and hardly any from anything else for that matter. The kids don’t have to pay school fees, because their Mum and Dad’s don’t have any money to pay. Half, or more of the kids that attend don’t even have shoes to wear to school and walk up to 4km’s bare footed or in rubber thongs just to be there. Now in my opinion this is a worthy project for us to think about. What I’d like to start off with is trying to raise enough cash to get electricity hooked up to the school, with electricity we can then look at a lot of other basic stuff, like a water pump etc etc etc. Over the next few days I’m going to try and set up a page with more information on this project. But please if anyone would like to help me out with this noble cause don’t hesitate to send me an email via the “CONTACT” link at the bottom of this page, thanks.
Special Thanks to, Bryan & Trish Ryder, Rosemary Ryan, Team Panadol, Karina Pols, Ron Samuel, Gordon Black, Jesper Stockholm, Nick, The Ando Family, The Pluss Family and more, for already offering support ! So come on folks we only need 30-40 of us to chip in and we can get a school hooked up with something we all pretty much take for granted, electricity. Our target needed is Rp10,000,000. that’s around AU$1,250.
Now if only these kind folk can forward their donations we can start to make this thing really happen. Thanks friends .
Have a good one what ever you’ve got happening out there and stay tuned to the one and only Original Bali Surf and Weather website.
