Kandui Surf Resort, Mentawai islands, Nov 11th surf report . Our last group of guests for the season arrived today. (Unless you would like to book now!) They were anxious for a surf so they ate a quick breakfast and then we headed for Bankvaults. The conditions there were very good with winds blowing offshore out of the north at around 10 mph. We had the place to ourselves. It was a little overhead, but shoulders were hard to find so we moved over to Nipusi were conditions were just as good and only one guy was out. We got some fun waves, then ran back for a quick lunch, then headed back to Nipusi for the afternoon surf. It was a little fat with the higher tide, but the conditions were still great. They surfed until dark. Probably looking at a repeat of today’s size and conditions tomorrow.
Kandui Surf Resort, Mentawai islands, Nov 10 surf report . Our guests were scheduled to leave early this morning, but the plane was delayed until the afternoon so they were able to get one last surf in, and their favorite place, Bankvaults, was breaking so they were stoked. It was a couple of feet overhead on the sets and the winds were offshore. They were able to get a few hours in before heading home. Our next guests will arrive tomorrow. The wave forecast for their trip is looking very good!
Kandui Surf Resort, Mentawai islands. Nov 9th surf report . The surf was looking a bit smaller today and the winds were out of the northwest. Our guys headed for the only option, Burgerworld. It was alright, a little overhead and offshore. There were a few boats on it, but the guys were mellow and there was a good vibe in the water. Everybody got some fun waves. Our current guests would have put in their usual 8 hour surf day, but the weather started looking like it could take a turn for the worst so they headed back with some light to spare and in time for happy hour. Looking at another small day tomorrow.
Kandui Surf Resort, Mentawai islands. Nov 8th surf report . Our boys were hoping for some Bankvaults today. They got it good their first day here and they have been frothing for it ever since. The wind was out of the north this morning so they had their hopes up. When they arrived there it was looking alright. It was a little overhead and there were only a handful of people out. That was a good deal, but the wind turned a little, coming more from the west, and it starting getting crumbly so they headed down to Nipusi were it was handling the wind. They cut their session short (they probably only surfed 5 hours this time!), heading back ahead of an approaching storm. They had a late lunch as the storm passed, then headed back to Nipusi. It was a little messy, feeling the effects of the storm, but there was nobody out so they made the best of it, surfing the overhead waves until dark. Expecting smaller surf tomorrow.
Kandui Surf Resort, Mentawai islands, Nov 7th surf report . 4 Bobs was looking a little bit bigger this morning. The winds were out of the west so it was off to Burgerworld again today. It was indeed a little bigger there, around head high or so, and the wind was blowing offshore out of the west. Our guests had another long session, but they cut it a little short due to the fact that there were still boats in the area and it was a little crowded. They came back with some light to spare and surfed clean, chest to shoulder high 4 Bobs with no one out. The forecasters are calling for north winds tomorrow so we are hoping to get some Bankvaults and, with any luck, maybe a couple of boats will head back home.
