**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Welcome back crew and thanks for taking the time to see whats happening surf and weather wise here in Bali today. Firstly please don’t be too critical of these current photos. Because this was Scott’s first attempt with our new water camera and we’ve got a few bugs still to sort out with her. But anyway they still give ya’s a bit of an idea what it was like up at Canggu yesterday before the wind shifted all the way around to the West. I’ve also handed over just under Rp14,000,000.00 to the Datah Primary School ( re- School Project) so they can start organizing their new electricity supply . I’ve got some photos of the hand over and I’ll do ad a progress report onto the “School Project” page so ya’s can see whats happening up at the school.
Today and I took my first glimpse of the Outer Reefs just before 7.00am and wave height has backed off into the 1-3ft range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left . The tide was right on the bottom of a 0.1mtr Low so cancel out Kuta Reef and Airports for the morning surf option. But Middle Reef had 2-3 surfers in the water and there was the odd head to slightly over head high wave coming through. The wind was coming outta the NNW @ 2-4knot and cross/on-shore but surfing conditions were still reasonably clean. The next High tide is gunna reach 1.8mtrs around the 1.00pm mark, then there should also be a little wave breaking on Airport left . I’d also imagine there could have even been a couple of waves down on the Racetrack section at Uluwatu and at Bingin for those that got up early enough. Scott has gone back up to Canggu to see whats gunna happen up there as the tide starts to run back in. So we should have some more photos for ya’s later this afternoon. Last night I managed to down load the new Video Footage from Uluwatu and I’ll try and get ya’s a clip or two loaded up later today. Weather wise this morning the sky has clouded over again with the odd drop of rain to kick off with. But already at 9.15am the temperature would be sitting around 26 degree’s Celsius and the humidity level already climbing for the high 90% range.
I’d also like to say thanks all the considerate surfers & families that have locked in to our commitment to help a school get hooked up with electricity . We have almost reached our goal, that is if everyone who has pledged makes it through. So hopefully by early next week I’ll be taking a fat wad of Rupiah up to hand over to the school committee !!! I’ll also be making a point of making a new page on baliwaves.com today so we can document the progress up at the “ Datah Primary School ” Thanks again for everyone’s patience and support ! For any new viewers to the baliwaves the paragraph below is a bit of a rundown on our school project.
Ok our first objective of aquiring the funds to hook up electricity to the school is done . So a huge pat on the back to all of you that have already contributed or in the process of !!! But there’s still a bit more we can do for the school so if you are interested take a look at the Info page on the school project over on the menue bar.
I’m stoked that our Scholarship Program for underprivileged Balinese kids has done so well, THANKS BIG TIME to all the big hearted people who have got behind us and helped out. Now I’ve got a new program that I’d like to kick off. One that we can control and keep constant progress up-dates on. I’m talking about kinda adopting a school up in one of the area’s of Bali where there’s no cash flow from tourism and hardly any from anything else for that matter. The kids don’t have to pay school fees, because their Mum and Dad’s don’t have any money to pay. Half, or more of the kids that attend don’t even have shoes to wear to school and walk up to 4km’s bare footed or in rubber thongs just to be there. Now in my opinion this is a worthy project for us to think about. What I’d like to start off with is trying to raise enough cash to get electricity hooked up to the school, with electricity we can then look at a lot of other basic stuff, like a water pump etc etc etc.
