**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Howdy folks and glad to have ya’s tuning in for the daily (7/7) no bullshit, surf and weather report here on the baliwaves.com. Ok now look I’m sorry about starting to get a bit repetitious with the Canggu photos but I’ve gotta take what I can get at the moment and Canggu has been delivering the goods through this small surf period we’ve been stuck in. Hopefully we’ll cop some solid swell soon and it’ll open up the opportunity to see some better locations firing off.
This morning’s 7.00am surf recon of the Outer Reefs was showing wave height to be still holding in the 1-3ft range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left . The tide was just about on the bottom of a 0.3mtr Low set for around 7.30am so once again it was too shallow on KR and AL. But out on Middle Reef there were some ok looking shoulder to head high plus waves peeling off with no surfers in sight. The wind was coming outta the NNW @ 2-3knot and like yesterday will more than likely swing further around to the SSW by midday. One of my Aussie friends KL sent me a sms surf report from up at Keramas earlier that said wave height up there was only pushing in at 2ft. But he also said that there was a big chance for some head high sets as the tide turns and starts to push back in. Conditions at Keramas were clean and glassy. Ok that’s about us for now but there’s more coming your way shortly. I’ve managed to load up a batch of photos on the bodyboarder page for those indulge. Scott has thrown up another Readers Report along with a handful of photos. I still haven’t got those new video clips loaded but I’ll have another shot at it today.
Weather wise , no rain through the night and this morning has dawned clear blue sky as far as the eye can see. Temperature wise it seems to be getting hotter and hotter with each new day, averaging in the low to mid 30’s on the Celsius scale. The water temp has been a constant 23-24 degree’s Celsius and jumping in for a dip has been a good way to keep cool.
I’d also like to say thanks all the considerate surfers & families that have locked in to our commitment to help a school get hooked up with electricity . We have almost reached our goal, that is if everyone who has pledged makes it through. So hopefully by early next week I’ll be taking a fat wad of Rupiah up to hand over to the school committee !!! I’ll also be making a point of making a new page on baliwaves.com today so we can document the progress up at the “ Datah Primary School ” Thanks again for everyone’s patience and support ! For any new viewers to the baliwaves the paragraph below is a bit of a rundown on our school project.
Ok our first objective of aquiring the funds to hook up electricity to the school is done . So a huge pat on the back to all of you that have already contributed or in the process of !!! But there’s still a bit more we can do for the school so if you are interested take a look at the Info page on the school project over on the menue bar.
I’m stoked that our Scholarship Program for underprivileged Balinese kids has done so well, THANKS BIG TIME to all the big hearted people who have got behind us and helped out. Now I’ve got a new program that I’d like to kick off. One that we can control and keep constant progress up-dates on. I’m talking about kinda adopting a school up in one of the area’s of Bali where there’s no cash flow from tourism and hardly any from anything else for that matter. The kids don’t have to pay school fees, because their Mum and Dad’s don’t have any money to pay. Half, or more of the kids that attend don’t even have shoes to wear to school and walk up to 4km’s bare footed or in rubber thongs just to be there. Now in my opinion this is a worthy project for us to think about. What I’d like to start off with is trying to raise enough cash to get electricity hooked up to the school, with electricity we can then look at a lot of other basic stuff, like a water pump etc etc etc.
Have a good one what ever you’ve got happening out there and stay tuned to the one and only Original Bali Surf and Weather website .
