Well this morning I was ready to go somewhere new after yesterday’s lazy effort. I jumped on the bike and headed over to the other side of the island hoping that the wind was going to co-operate and do what it has been doing the last few days. That is, on shore on the west coast by 10am. So anyway after making my way over to Karamas the tide was still a little low but conditions were clean and glassy. There was only two people in the water and they were surfing up the beach away from the normal take off spot. The waves were coming through in the 1-2ft range or knee to waist high. As the tide started to come in there was the occassional 3ft wave or head high. This motivated a couple of the boys in the warung and they hit the water. First wave was a barrel and soon everyone was out there. Total count I think was about eight guys all up. Overall the conditions remained in the 1-3ft size range, the wind didn’t co-operate and came up blowing onshore so it was all over by about 10:30am. I made my way home and checked the east coast which was also showing little waves but onshore also so I don’t think there was to much chance of getting alot out of the waves on offer today unless you hit it first thing in the morning. Ok I will probably have another look later this afternoon and see if there is that nice afternoon glass off. You never know, I am hanging to get my own surf time in at some point.
