****AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE**** Hey crew well we are back in Bali after spending the last 2 wind blown days over on the island of Lembongan , East of Bali. Unfortunately for us the wind didn’t really let up coming outta the WSW upta 20knot for the whole time so we didn’t get a chance to do much surfing. But it was good to kick back and relax and do nothing for a change. We did manage to meet quite a few locals and we took a lot of photos so I’ll throw together a bit of a page on Lembongan and try and explain the whole deal from getting there and back and some of the things you can do and see over there.
Back in Bali and the wind has also been relentless outta the WSW upta 15knot+. My first surf check of the Outer Reefs was a messy looking 2-4ft+ between Kuta Reef and Airport Left . I’d have to imagine that down on the Southern end of the island at Uluwatu there would have to be a more solid 4-6ft+ of swell but she’d be equally as messy as what it is on the Outers. But, on the other hand over on the East Coast of Bali I’m sure there would be plenty of locations offering clean and perfect waves. Scott was up at Keramas this morning and as ya’s can see in these current photos he’s handed in this afternoon there were some nice waves breaking. Scott has also filed a “READERS REPORT” for us and I’m sure he’d have the full run down on surfing conditions at Keramas for ya’s. A few of the other guests staying here with us at Home Base Bali headed straight for Serangan as soon as they un packed their bags from Lembongan . I’ll have the run down on what it was like over there for ya’s on tomorrow mornings surf report. Ok then hang in there cause I’ve got a bit of catching up to do after 2 days off island. That’s it then have a good one and tune in again tomorrow for more news of Bali’s surfing conditions right here on the Original Bali Surf Report website that leads the way all the way.
Ok our first objective of aquiring the funds to hook up electricity to the school is done . So a huge pat on the back to all of you that have already contributed or in the process of !!! But there’s still a bit more we can do for the school so if you are interested take a look at the Info page on the school project over on the menue bar.
I’m stoked that our Scholarship Program for underprivileged Balinese kids has done so well, THANKS BIG TIME to all the big hearted people who have got behind us and helped out. Now I’ve got a new program that I’d like to kick off. One that we can control and keep constant progress up-dates on. I’m talking about kinda adopting a school up in one of the area’s of Bali where there’s no cash flow from tourism and hardly any from anything else for that matter. The kids don’t have to pay school fees, because their Mum and Dad’s don’t have any money to pay. Half, or more of the kids that attend don’t even have shoes to wear to school and walk up to 4km’s bare footed or in rubber thongs just to be there. Now in my opinion this is a worthy project for us to think about. What I’d like to start off with is trying to raise enough cash to get electricity hooked up to the school, with electricity we can then look at a lot of other basic stuff, like a water pump etc etc etc.
Have a good one what ever you’ve got happening out there and stay tuned to the one and only Original Bali Surf and Weather website .
