**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Good morning friends and thanks for tuning back in for the run down on whats happening surf and weather wise here on the happy little holiday island of Bali. Well for starters today we have a Full Moon rising and for the Balinese Hindu it’s going to be a big day of prayer, at home and at all the Temple’s around the island.
Surfwise I went down to see whats happening on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban at 5.45am. Wave height has dropped off over night from yesterday’s 2-4 footers down into the 1-3ft range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left . The wind was already blowing hard on-shore coming straight outta the West @ 6-10knot. The tide was running in for a 1.8mtr High scheduled in for 10.00am before dropping back out 0.6mtr Low around 3.30pm. What you won’t see on the printed tide charts is that the night time High tides are up there in the 2.4mtr range. Back on the wave trail you’d be hard pressed to find anything surfable here along the West Coast but over on the East Coast it’d be a different ball game. Starting off on the Southern end at Nyang Nyangs, Green Balls and Nusa Dua you could still expect to find wave height in the solid 2-4ft range. It might be just a touch to small for Sri-Lanka , but there’d still be a few 2-3 footers getting in at Serangan . But you would have to be prepared to deal with at least 40-60 surfers in the water at Serangan with the big numbers of Japanese surfers over here at the moment. If you kept heading North from there you’d find that it’d be too small at Sanur Reef but keep going and you’d get some 1-3ft beach breaks up around the Padang Galak area. Further North and the last place I’m gunna mention is Keramas and that would be my pick for the best quality waves this morning before the tide hits the top. Ok then that’s about it for now I’ve gotta start addressing some long overdue email replies … But you can also find some more fresh surf reports on baliwaves by clicking on the MENTAWAI ISLANDS link and in the READERS REPORT link. Have a good one and thanks for supporting the First and Original Bali Surf and Weather Report website.
Weather wise out there today there was a bitta cloud fluffing about at sun up but now at 8.45am there’s a clear blue sky. Temperature wise the mercury should easily bust into the low to mid 30’s on the Celsius scale and athe water temp is real nice at 24 degree’s Celsius.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta, tou’ll find that; –1AU$=Rp8,125 – 1US$=Rp9,300 – 1NZ$=Rp7,050 – 1Eu$=Rp13,125 – 1English Pound=Rp18,985 –.
I’m stoked that our Scholarship Program for underprivileged Balinese kids has done so well, THANKS BIG TIME to all the big hearted people who have got behind us and helped out. Now I’ve got a new program that I’d like to kick off. One that we can control and keep constant progress up-dates on. I’m talking about kinda adopting a school up in one of the area’s of Bali where there’s no cash flow from tourism and hardly any from anything else for that matter. The kids don’t have to pay school fees, because their Mum and Dad’s don’t have any money to pay. Half, or more of the kids that attend don’t even have shoes to wear to school and walk up to 4km’s bare footed or in rubber thongs just to be there. Now in my opinion this is a worthy project for us to think about. What I’d like to start off with is trying to raise enough cash to get electricity hooked up to the school, with electricity we can then look at a lot of other basic stuff, like a water pump etc etc etc.
Ok our first objective of aquiring the funds to hook up electricity to the school is done . So a huge pat on the back to all of you that have already contributed or in the process of !!! But there’s still a bit more we can do for the school so if you are interested take a look at the Info page on the school project over on the menue bar.
