**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Good morning crew and welcome back for another look at whats happening surf and weather wise here on the happy little holiday island of Bali . I was a bit warped from the five and a half hours of standing out in the sun yesterday up at Keramas. Not too mention while holding 7 kilo’s of SLR with a 600mm lens attached to it. So it wasn’t until 7.00am that I wandered down to the beach this morning for a surf recon of the Outer Reefs here in Tuban.
Wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport Left was still showing at a solid looking 2-4ft+. The tide was starting to run up heading for a 1.9mtr High around midday. Wind direction , coming outta the West @ 3-7knot and on-shore right along Bali’s West Coast , of-course. Even so there was still half a dozen surfers out riding 2-3 footers on Kuta Reef , and they were (the waves) peeling of for a good 60-70yrds plus. Middle Reef was doing better at 3-4ft+ and there was also another half a dozen surfers out there. Further down at Airport Left the tide was still a touch too low but by now there would be a crew out there with wave height in the 2-3ft range. I was also talking to an Aussie surfer down on the sand and he was up early surfing down at Bingin . He reckoned wave height was a solid 3ft+ and tube city while the tide was on the bottom of the Low. He also had plenty of fresh reef cuts on his feet to back up his story. I’ve just down loaded the video footage that Dewa Made shot up at Keramas yesterday and as soon as this report goes on line I’ll start editing ya’s some fresh clips and show ya’s how good it was up at Keramas yesterday. Our good friend Mr Scott Thompson just stopped by to let me know that he’ll be riding over to Serangan later this afternoon to shoot some photos for us, so it’s definitely gunna be worth calling by the baliwaves.com later on. New video clips and more high quality photos from Serangan over on Bali’s East Coast .
Weather wise we’ve got more perfect holiday conditions outside. Nothing but blue sky around this part of the island and a temperature that will easily exceed 30 degree’s Celsius. While the water temp is very enticing at 24 degree’s Celsius.
Changing Dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta you’ll find that –1AU$=Rp8,120 – 1US$=Rp9,275 – 1NZ$=Rp7,050 – 1Eu$=Rp13,500 – 1English Pound=Rp19,300. Now if that isn’t getting good value for your hard earned holiday dollar what is !
I’m stoked that our Scholarship Program for underprivileged Balinese kids has done so well, THANKS BIG TIME to all the big hearted people who have got behind us and helped out. Now I’ve got a new program that I’d like to kick off. One that we can control and keep constant progress up-dates on. I’m talking about kinda adopting a school up in one of the area’s of Bali where there’s no cash flow from tourism and hardly any from anything else for that matter. The kids don’t have to pay school fees, because their Mum and Dad’s don’t have any money to pay. Half, or more of the kids that attend don’t even have shoes to wear to school and walk up to 4km’s bare footed or in rubber thongs just to be there. Now in my opinion this is a worthy project for us to think about. What I’d like to start off with is trying to raise enough cash to get electricity hooked up to the school, with electricity we can then look at a lot of other basic stuff, like a water pump etc etc etc.
Ok our first objective of aquiring the funds to hook up electricity to the school is done . So a huge pat on the back to all of you that have already contributed or in the process of !!! But there’s still a bit more we can do for the school so if you are interested take a look at the Info page on the school project over on the menue bar.
