**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** G’Day surfers and thanks for dropping bye for the run down on whats happening, not happening surf and weather wise here in Bali today . Well when I went down for a 6.45am surf check of the Outer Reefs here in Tuban it definitely wasn’t happening. Wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport Lefts has further deteriorated back down into the flat to 6 inch range . We had a 1.7mtr High tide @ 7.00am and wind direction at the time was coming outta the North @ 2-4knot . The next Low water line will be a 0.8metre’s around 12.30pm. Yesterday the wind ended up settling into the Western quadrant and I’d be thinking that’s where she’ll be heading again today. One of our guests from here at Home Base outta desperation made a run down to Nyang Nyangs just around the corner from Uluwatu in hope of finding something to surf. But he was back home a couple of hours later and reckon’d that wave height between Nyang Nyangs and Nusa Dua was also only just in the knee high range. Scott headed back up to Canggu and sms’d through that surfing conditions up there were down in the micro class (knee high). No way around it today folks, small to very small waves right around the island, maybe, just maybe ya might have been able to find a beach break up around the Padma Street area, but better suited for the micro grommet. Looking at the swell prediction charts and we’ve still got 2-3 more days of the dulldrums to get through. But relief is in sight.
Weather wise it rained through most of the night and was still drizzling when I was down at the beach this morning. Right now at 10.30am it’s still looking gloomy outside and it’s just starting to rain again. No doubts about it the wet season is moving in on us and I don’t think we’ll be seeing the wind coming outta the ESE again for awhile. But not too worry we’ll be starting to bring ya surf coverage from over on the East Coast, Green Balls to Keramas soon enough. Temperature wise at the moment it’s a cool 25 degree’s Celsius outside and heading for a maximum of 27-28 C.
I’d also like to say thanks all the considerate surfers & families that have locked in to our commitment to help a school get hooked up with electricity . We have almost reached our goal, that is if everyone who has pledged makes it through. So hopefully by early next week I’ll be taking a fat wad of Rupiah up to hand over to the school committee !!! I’ll also be making a point of making a new page on baliwaves.com today so we can document the progress up at the “ Datah Primary School ” Thanks again for everyone’s patience and support ! For any new viewers to the baliwaves the paragraph below is a bit of a rundown on our school project.
I’m stoked that our Scholarship Program for underprivileged Balinese kids has done so well, THANKS BIG TIME to all the big hearted people who have got behind us and helped out. Now I’ve got a new program that I’d like to kick off. One that we can control and keep constant progress up-dates on. I’m talking about kinda adopting a school up in one of the area’s of Bali where there’s no cash flow from tourism and hardly any from anything else for that matter. The kids don’t have to pay school fees, because their Mum and Dad’s don’t have any money to pay. Half, or more of the kids that attend don’t even have shoes to wear to school and walk up to 4km’s bare footed or in rubber thongs just to be there. Now in my opinion this is a worthy project for us to think about. What I’d like to start off with is trying to raise enough cash to get electricity hooked up to the school, with electricity we can then look at a lot of other basic stuff, like a water pump etc etc etc. Over the next few days I’m going to try and set up a page with more information on this project. But please if anyone would like to help me out with this noble cause don’t hesitate to send me an email via the “CONTACT” link at the bottom of this page, thanks..
