Kandui Surf Resort, Mentawai islands, Nov. 6th surf report . The swell was looking pretty small this morning. Winds were light out of the west so that gave us the option of going to Burgerworld. Yesterday, the winds were blowing moderately out of the northeast and that didn’t leave us with many good choices with the small swell and more than average boats around for this time of year. (I think people are starting to figure out there is still good surf in the “off” season.) We only ended up surfing Last Resort’s in the afternoon when the wind died down, so we were planning on making up for it today. We packed a bunch of food and hit Burgerworld. The waves there had a little morning sickness on it when we arrived, but it quickly glassed off and we were surfing smooth, chest to shoulder high waves. It was about as small as Burgerworld gets, being the swell magnet that it is, but it was fun and the other guys there off of the boats were all cool so we stayed all day. We headed back a little before sunset over a still glassy ocean. We are hoping for a little pulse in the swell tomorrow, and few less boats! Long range forecasts are looking good.
Kandui Surf Resort, Mentawai islands, Nov 4 surf report. The waves were looking smaller this morning. It was super glassy again. The winds started blowing lightly out of the north as we were heading out, which was perfect because we were going to Bankvaults and that wind if offshore there. It was only head high or so, but it was clean and no one was out. There were a few barrels, but hard to find one that would let you out. We surfed until around midday and headed back for lunch. In the afternoon, the guys headed for Last Resorts. There were a few guys on it, which is unusual, but they got out as our boat arrived and the boys had it to themselves. It was clean with some head high sets and the guys had a good time before the sun went down. Probably looking at dropping swell tomorrow.
