**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Good morning crew and thanks for dropping by for the run down on whats still not wuite happening surf and weather wise over here on the paradise island of Bali. First up these current photos we have on display for ya,s were shot up at Canggu yesterday by Scott Thompson. We’ve been lucky to have Scott volunteering helping us out with with photographic skills. Scott reckoned he was lucky to get these photos yesterday as it really wasn’t as good as his photos make it look. But anyway ya can check out what Scott has to say and see a few more of his photos on the READERS REPORT.
This morning when I went down for the 7.00am surf recon of the Outer Reefs wave height was still only in the 1-1ft+ range in between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. The tide was still running in for a New Moon 1.9mtr High and will bottom out with a 0.5mtr Low around 4.00pm. The wind direction was good, coming outta the ESE to SSE @ 2-5knot and pretty well straight off-shore between Uluwatu and Legian . There wasn’t too many waves breaking on Kuta Reef , unless you weigh in at 20kgs and stand 3 feet tall. But over at Middle Reef I did watch a few come through in the waist to shoulder high class. Middle’s should hopefully improve after lunch with the out going tide. Plus the charts are indicating a wave height should boost another foot or two through the afternoon, fingers crossed.
Weather wise out there today and there was some solid rain clouds up towards the North West but here in Tuban it’s been hot and sunny. Today we should be feeling the mercury hitting the early 30’s on the Celsius scale, combined with 90 % humidity
I’d also like to say thanks all the considerate surfers & families that have locked in to our commitment to help a school get hooked up with electricity . We have almost reached our goal, that is if everyone who has pledged makes it through. So hopefully by early next week I’ll be taking a fat wad of Rupiah up to hand over to the school committee !!! I’ll also be making a point of making a new page on baliwaves.com today so we can document the progress up at the “ Datah Primary School ” Thanks again for everyone’s patience and support ! For any new viewers to the baliwaves the paragraph below is a bit of a rundown on our school project.
Ok our first objective of aquiring the funds to hook up electricity to the school is done . So a huge pat on the back to all of you that have already contributed or in the process of !!! But there’s still a bit more we can do for the school so if you are interested take a look at the Info page on the school project over on the menue bar.
I’m stoked that our Scholarship Program for underprivileged Balinese kids has done so well, THANKS BIG TIME to all the big hearted people who have got behind us and helped out. Now I’ve got a new program that I’d like to kick off. One that we can control and keep constant progress up-dates on. I’m talking about kinda adopting a school up in one of the area’s of Bali where there’s no cash flow from tourism and hardly any from anything else for that matter. The kids don’t have to pay school fees, because their Mum and Dad’s don’t have any money to pay. Half, or more of the kids that attend don’t even have shoes to wear to school and walk up to 4km’s bare footed or in rubber thongs just to be there. Now in my opinion this is a worthy project for us to think about. What I’d like to start off with is trying to raise enough cash to get electricity hooked up to the school, with electricity we can then look at a lot of other basic stuff, like a water pump etc etc etc.
