Hello, crew and like I said I would here’s our first progress report on how our project with helping out the Datah Primary School is going. Well financially we managed to raise just under Rp14,000,000. and exceeded our target by alomost Rp4,000,000. I went back up to the school and handed over a fat wad of cash to the school Principal last Monday the 12th of November. Well done my friends we have to be pretty proud of ourselves. Ok so the process to get the school wired up with electricity is underway. This won’t happen over night as you can imagine there’s red tape to go through and then, there’s the placement of power poles and wireing etc etc to get in place. But I’ll keep you good folk in the loop with regular progress reports on how they are going.
With the extra capital we have I’m going to try and purchase 100 English / Indonesian dictionaries for the young students. And who knows, hopefully one day these kids will be able to write ya’s some letters themselves.
One thing that surprised me when I was last at the school was when I opened a bag of stationary supplies donated by some great folk down in Sydney Australia. There was a bag of plain old tennis balls included and when the word got out to the kids there was almost a riot to get at them. The Principal had to lock and bar his office door !!! Alright thanks again for all your support to help make life a little bit better for the less fortunate, and if you know of any other kind minded people let em know about what we have been up to.
Best Regards from Bali
Slim
