**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Good morning to all you surfers checking in to the baliwaves today. And what a day it is shaping up for. We’ve got nothing but blue sky, clean wind and a solid increase in wave size for all the lucky people here on holidays.
My 6.00am surf check of the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was showing wave height breaking at 3-4ft+ between Kuta Reef and Airport Left . The tide was just coming off the bottom of a 0.1mtr Low and will be peaking at 1.8mtrs around lunch time. The wind was pretty well non existent, but what of it there was was tending Northerly. The boys from Home Base were out surfing on Kuta Reef and even though it was looking pretty shallow there was still a few peeling off in the 3-4ft range. Middle Reef was the best at the time with set waves peeling off un-ridden at 3-4ft+. No surfers down on Airport Left either but that’ll change when there’s a bit more water over the reef, wave height 2-3ft. Scott sms’d through to us that he was already down at Uluwatu by 7.15am and that wave height was pumping through in the 3-5ft range. There were also only 11 surfers in the water at the time, spread out between the Main Peak and Racetrack sections. So I’d reckon Scott will have some hot photos for ya’s to check out when he makes it back to Home Base.
In the meantime I’ve just finished editing ya’s up 4 NEW VIDEO CLIPS from the footage I shot down at Uluwatu yesterday and they should be visible on-line by lunch time. Ok and as we all know the festive season is just about on us again, talk about time flying. Well as everyone starts shutting down work / study etc etc I’m also gunna be taking some time off and going to have my first Christmas in Australia in 13yrs. I’m taking off tomorrow but we’ll still have Scotty Thompson here in Bali sending ya’s through new photos and ravings from where ever he roams to. Plus I’ll have my camera gear with me as well and I’ll be hunting for waves along the East Coast of Oz from Sydney to the Goldy. Ok then enjoy the show and I’ll be back later this arvo to show ya’s what Scotto’s been upta today down at Uluwatu. Peace .
I’m stoked that our Scholarship Program for underprivileged Balinese kids has done so well, THANKS BIG TIME to all the big hearted people who have got behind us and helped out. Now I’ve got a new program that I’d like to kick off. One that we can control and keep constant progress up-dates on. I’m talking about kinda adopting a school up in one of the area’s of Bali where there’s no cash flow from tourism and hardly any from anything else for that matter. The kids don’t have to pay school fees, because their Mum and Dad’s don’t have any money to pay. Half, or more of the kids that attend don’t even have shoes to wear to school and walk up to 4km’s bare footed or in rubber thongs just to be there. Now in my opinion this is a worthy project for us to think about. What I’d like to start off with is trying to raise enough cash to get electricity hooked up to the school, with electricity we can then look at a lot of other basic stuff, like a water pump etc etc etc.
Well Thanks to all the kind hearted folks that have helped us improve the conditions up at the Datah Primary School ! We are making some real progress with the objectives we made so make sure you check out our progress at the school via the “SCHOOL PROJECT” page over on the menue bar .
Have a good one what ever you’ve got happening out there and stay tuned to the one and only Original Bali Surf and Weather website .
