****MIDDAY SURF UP-DATE**** Hi crew and welcome back to the baliwaves.com daily (7/7) surf and weather report website . Well when I woke up this morning I already new for some reason that wave height had picked up. It was that pre dawn feeling that only a surfer knows. So I wasn’t surprised when I did a 6.00am surf check of the Outer Reefs to find wave height in the 2-4ft range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left . There wasn’t much happening on Kuta Reef with the new swell coming slightly more outta the South. Middle Reef had some nice tapered walls peeling off in the head to head high plus range. And if the tide woulda been on the rise instead of still running out Airport Left woulda been pretty good at shoulder to head high plus.
There was no wind at that time so surfing conditions were clean and glassy. The low tide was going to bottom out around 10.00am @ 0.5mtrs so I though it’s be a fine oprtunity to see what was happening down at Uluwatu’s Racetrack section. As ya’s can see in these latest photos out of Bali it was indeed tube city down along the Racetrack . The wind held off pretty well right through till the time I packed up at 11.15am and by that time the Main Peak and Temple sections were also starting to fire up. By the time I parked my bike at Home Base the wind had picked up coming outta the WSW @ 5-8knot and back to on-shore along Bali ’s best surfing coastline. But for those in the know this morning Uluwatu was the place to be.
Weather wise , there was some heavy rain that fell through the early early AM. But by the time I hit the road for Uluwatu it was pretty well all done and we were left with a mainly blue sky, except for the odd patch of cloud. Temperature wise it was hot and humid down on the Southern end of the island and right now at 1.30pm it’d still be pushing 30 degree’s Celsius.
I’m stoked that our Scholarship Program for underprivileged Balinese kids has done so well, THANKS BIG TIME to all the big hearted people who have got behind us and helped out. Now I’ve got a new program that I’d like to kick off. One that we can control and keep constant progress up-dates on. I’m talking about kinda adopting a school up in one of the area’s of Bali where there’s no cash flow from tourism and hardly any from anything else for that matter. The kids don’t have to pay school fees, because their Mum and Dad’s don’t have any money to pay. Half, or more of the kids that attend don’t even have shoes to wear to school and walk up to 4km’s bare footed or in rubber thongs just to be there. Now in my opinion this is a worthy project for us to think about. What I’d like to start off with is trying to raise enough cash to get electricity hooked up to the school, with electricity we can then look at a lot of other basic stuff, like a water pump etc etc etc.
Ok our first objective of aquiring the funds to hook up electricity to the school is done . So a huge pat on the back to all of you that have already contributed or in the process of !!! But there’s still a bit more we can do for the school so if you are interested take a look at the Info page on the school project over on the menue bar.
We have also secured our goal of providing 100 English / Indonesian dictionaries . So I’ll be heading back up to the school to hand them over and to get ya’s another progress report on how we are doing. So keep an eye on the School Project page .
