**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** G’Day crew and thanks for taking the time to tune into the baliwaves.com daily (7/7) surf and weather report for Bali . Well the rain cleared up and we’ve been left with a beautiful morning here in Tuban. But my 6.00am surf check of the Outer Reefs was looking pretty sad with wave height taken another knock is size. Actual wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport Left was only just showing at half a foot on the bigger sets. No one surfing as you might well imagine. The tide was still running up for 1.6mtr High set for around 8.00am and then is gunna drop out for a 0.8mtr Low around 1.30pm. The wind is calm so surfing conditions are clean and glassy, all ya gotta do is find some waves.
A couple of the boys staying with us here at Home Base have already hit the road in hope of finding some shoulder to head high waves down at Uluwatu . My best bet would be to wait for the tide to pass through the top of the tide and then head for Keramas . But I wouldn’t be expecting it to be un-crowded by any means. Scott is out there somewhere this morning with his camera equipment and hopefully by this afternoon we’ll have some fresh photos from somewhere in Bali . Me well old Slim has gotta make the run back up to the Datah Primary School to see how our Electricity project is going and to drop off 100 new English / Indonesian dictionaries + some other bits and pieces for the kids. So I’m not gunna be back from the mountains until late this afternoon. Ok so there’s not much else to mention except have a good one what eva ya got going today, and I hope there’s a bit more swell at your local than what we’ve got happening over here.
I’m stoked that our Scholarship Program for underprivileged Balinese kids has done so well, THANKS BIG TIME to all the big hearted people who have got behind us and helped out. Now I’ve got a new program that I’d like to kick off. One that we can control and keep constant progress up-dates on. I’m talking about kinda adopting a school up in one of the area’s of Bali where there’s no cash flow from tourism and hardly any from anything else for that matter. The kids don’t have to pay school fees, because their Mum and Dad’s don’t have any money to pay. Half, or more of the kids that attend don’t even have shoes to wear to school and walk up to 4km’s bare footed or in rubber thongs just to be there. Now in my opinion this is a worthy project for us to think about. What I’d like to start off with is trying to raise enough cash to get electricity hooked up to the school, with electricity we can then look at a lot of other basic stuff, like a water pump etc etc etc.
Ok our first objective of aquiring the funds to hook up electricity to the school is done . So a huge pat on the back to all of you that have already contributed or in the process of !!! But there’s still a bit more we can do for the school so if you are interested take a look at the Info page on the school project over on the menue bar.
We have also secured our goal of providing 100 English / Indonesian dictionaries . So I’ll be heading back up to the school to hand them over and to get ya’s another progress report on how we are doing. So keep an eye on the School Project page .
