****MIDDAY SURF UP-DATE**** Hi crew and welcome to the baliwaves.com Sunday Session . I’ve been kinda taking it easy today but I did manage to check out whats happening down the beach earlier this morning at 6.00am . At the time the tide was just starting to run back in for an 11.00am 1.7mtr High and the wind was clean off-shore , coming outta the ESE @ 2-3knot. Wave height had also improved slightly with 2-3ft+ of swell between Kuta Reef and Airport Left .
At the time it was too shallow for any decent waves on Kuta Reef or Airports but Middle Reef was reeling off some nice looking 2-3 footers (shoulder to head high plus) with the occasional bigger freak set. A few of the boys from here at Home Base took a reef taxi out and reckoned it wasn’t too bad at all at Middle’s . Kyle. M. sent through the first sms from Keramas at 6.00am and reckoned wave height was also a solid 4ft while the tide was still too low and that there should be 5 footers breaking within the hour. Our friend Scott Thompson made the run down to Uluwatu to shoot us some fresh photos and sms’d through that as the tide was pushing in the Main Peak had some solid 4 footers breaking and plenty of tube ride’s going down. I’ll get Scott’s photos loaded up for ya’s a bit later on this afternoon. Right now at 12.30pm the wind is still off-shore outta the SE . So you’d still find plenty of waves here along the West Coast at places like Middle Reef, Bingin, Impossible’s and of course the Racetrack down at Uluwatu will be smoking as the tide drops out for the 0.7mtr Low around 4.00pm .
Weather wise there was some rain through the night but Sunday dawned clear and blue. Just now there is some high cloud moving in so we could be in for a few more drops later this evening. Temperature wise the mercury woulda easily busted into the low 30’s on the Celsius scale.
I’m stoked that our Scholarship Program for underprivileged Balinese kids has done so well, THANKS BIG TIME to all the big hearted people who have got behind us and helped out. Now I’ve got a new program that I’d like to kick off. One that we can control and keep constant progress up-dates on. I’m talking about kinda adopting a school up in one of the area’s of Bali where there’s no cash flow from tourism and hardly any from anything else for that matter. The kids don’t have to pay school fees, because their Mum and Dad’s don’t have any money to pay. Half, or more of the kids that attend don’t even have shoes to wear to school and walk up to 4km’s bare footed or in rubber thongs just to be there. Now in my opinion this is a worthy project for us to think about. What I’d like to start off with is trying to raise enough cash to get electricity hooked up to the school, with electricity we can then look at a lot of other basic stuff, like a water pump etc etc etc.
Well Thanks to all the kind hearted folks that have helped us improve the conditions up at the Datah Primary School ! We are making some real progress with the objectives we made so make sure you check out our progress at the school via the “SCHOOL PROJECT” page over on the menue bar .
Have a good one what ever you’ve got happening out there and stay tuned to the one and only Original Bali Surf and Weather website .
