**** AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE **** Howdy friends of the baliwaves and thanks for sticking it out for the latest of surf and weather up-dates outta Bali . Well as we all know things don’t always go as planned. As I mentioned yesterday I attended one of my good old Aussie mates wedding yesterday and shortly after returning home I was struck down by some kinda evil virus that had me running to the toilet all night. Needless to say I was feeling pretty empty this morning but hey I still managed to take the boys here at Home Base (as promised..) over to the East Coast for some perfect little waves.
This morning there was no need to venture down for a look at surfing conditions on the Outer Reefs. The wind was howling outta the West in the 8-12knot range @ 6.00am . But according to the swell prediction forecast we were in for a slight increase in wave height and that’s exactly how it was. So after I woke up all the boys from Home Base and got them all loaded into our (AU$15.00) hire car we hit the road for the East Coast.
Surfing conditions at our choice of locations were very clean and tidy with the Westerly wind blowing straight off-shore on the perfect little 2-3ft “A-frame” beach breaks . The wave is called Secrets but I don’t know why, I first surfed this spot around 13yrs ago through my first “Wet Season” in Bali . There were only two local surfers in the water by the time we arrived and the boys soon joined them. While I sat suffering and watching (violins please). By the time my crew had had their fill of the perfect lefts and rights the crowd woulda peaked at around 25 surfers spread out over 100yrds or so. And shortly after the wind shifted from a 10knot off-shore Westerly to a 15knot cross/on-shore South South Westerly.
Weather wise there’s been no rain today and a mainly blue sky with just some thin high cloud mixed through it. Temperature wise the mercury woulda easily hit 30 degree’s Celsius over where we were. While the water temperature was a very pleasant 24 degree’s Celsius.
Well Thanks to all the kind hearted folks that have helped us improve the conditions up at the Datah Primary School ! We are making some real progress with the objectives we made, so make sure you check out our progress at the school via the “SCHOOL PROJECT” page over on the menue bar .
