****AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE**** Hello again crew and like I said, if the rain breaks I’ll get ya’s some new photos to check out. Well around 1.00pm this afternoon the sky was still looking pretty grey but I figured I had time to duck over to Serangan on the East side of the island and see what was happening. By this time the WSW wind was starting to gear back up and was blowing pretty strong by the time I was on the scene. Wave height over there as ya’s can see was pushing the double head high range on the bigger sets, but the average wave size was more in the 2-3ft+ class. There were lefts and rights on offer but I’d have to say the lefts were the better option. All in all it wasn’t that crowded for an average day at Serangan , with only around 65 surfers scattered over a 300yrd spread. I was lucky and made it back to Home Base only 3 minutes before the rain started back up. Ok then I’m outta here but we’ll be back the latest surf and weather info from Bali again tomorrow morning. Peace.
**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Good morning friends and thanks for dropping into the baliwaves.com daily surf and weather report . Well crew yesterday was one for the books because around 10.00am the wind direction shifted around to the E-ESE , blowing off-shore from Legian to Uluwatu . Here in Tuban the Outer Reefs were producing some nice little waves in the shoulder to head high plus range. Alas, twas the day after a huge night of seeing in the New Year…
So I fell asleep last night with expectations of an early morning run down to Uluwatu… Ha !, not to be. This morning the 2nd waking up 5.45am with 8-12knots of W-WSW on-shore wind and a black as sky the most obvious choice was to get back in bed. Right now at 7.00am it’s still raining and the sky is still an ugly shade of grey, but the wind has dropped back to around 3-5knot. So we’ll be keeping an eye on the sky throughout the day and if there’s any chance of getting out on location with the camera equipment without getting soaked we will . At the very least I’ll get back to ya’s again later this afternoon with an up-date on conditions. What I am going to do is load up 100 or so photos into the Surfing Gallery . These photos are from Nov and Dec but they are gunna be appearing in the January 08 link ok. Alrighty crew there’s not much else do except to wait until this bad weather blows over. Have a good one and stay tuned to the Original Bali Surf and Weather Report website.
I’m stoked that our Scholarship Program for underprivileged Balinese kids has done so well, THANKS BIG TIME to all the big hearted people who have got behind us and helped out. Now I’ve got a new program that I’d like to kick off. One that we can control and keep constant progress up-dates on. I’m talking about kinda adopting a school up in one of the area’s of Bali where there’s no cash flow from tourism and hardly any from anything else for that matter. The kids don’t have to pay school fees, because their Mum and Dad’s don’t have any money to pay. Half, or more of the kids that attend don’t even have shoes to wear to school and walk up to 4km’s bare footed or in rubber thongs just to be there. Now in my opinion this is a worthy project for us to think about. What I’d like to start off with is trying to raise enough cash to get electricity hooked up to the school, with electricity we can then look at a lot of other basic stuff, like a water pump etc etc etc.
Well Thanks to all the kind hearted folks that have helped us improve the conditions up at the Datah Primary School ! We are making some real progress with the objectives we made, so make sure you check out our progress at the school via the “SCHOOL PROJECT” page over on the menue bar .
