Bali Surf Report – February 14 2008

AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE **** Good afternoon my fine surfer friends and thanks for dropping in for baliwaves.com daily surf and weather report . Hmmm, well there wasn’t a report yesterday because I was out all day up at the Datah Primary School checking out there new light switches (they were very proud of those I tell ya’s). Plus I also handed over enough Rupiah to start repairing there old wall and gate . But I’ll fill ya’s in on that when I type up the next Progress Report for the School Project page .

Ok and here’s what happened surf wise today . First up the boys staying with us at Home Base and I checked out what was going down on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban . There was some nice swell showing in the 2-4ft range (chest to over head high). But the wind was blowing outta the NNW @ 5-8knot so we headed over to the East Coast to see if we could find better conditions. Our first drive by surf check on the east side was at Secrets but after a quick glance at the number of cars in the parking area we had to make a conservative estimate that there woulda at least been 50+ surfers in the water so we kept on driving.

Final destination, Keramas . Thats where there I took these current photos as ya can tell. We arrived around 8.30am just as the tide was starting to push back in. Wave height was coming through in the 3-4ft class and the wind kinda cross-shore outta the North @ 3-5knot . There was some hot hot hot surfing going down from the likes of local surfers Pepen, Devis and Koming to name a few. But what was blowing me away was the performance being given from some Japanese professional surfers . Thre was no shortage of “new age” digital photographers on hand and if ya wait another month or two you’ll probably get to see some similar photos in one of the local magazines, lol.

Weather wise it’s kinda been cloudy all day but with only one or two drops falling so far till now at 5.00pm. The wind has also backed right off from that f%#$@*& howling WSW that bugged the hell out of us for the last 5 days straight. Temperature wise the mercury woulda made 28-29 degree’s Celsius at best.

Datah Primary School Project , I know it’s been over a month since my last visit to the school but come the 13^th of this month and I will be making a special visit to the school to hand over some more of your extremely valuable contributions and to make another summary / report on the current situation at the school. So stay tuned for more info on what we have accomplished.
