**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Hi crew, yesterday I had to spend the day up in the mountains and couldn’t get to my rusty old PC to deliver ya’s the news on Bali’s surf and weather . But I did get a quick peak at the Ocean last night and it was virtually flat between Kuta Reef and Airport Left . Still no new swell has arrived.
This morning the 19th and when I went down for weary eye’d surf recon at 6.45am there was still no new swell breaking on the Outer Reefs . Wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport left was only just breaking in the 1-1ft+ range . The next tide is going to be a 1.7mtr High happening around 9.30am, followed by a 0.7mtr Low tide around 2.30pm. The wind at the moment was coming outta the ESE @ 2-4knot and the ocean was looking clean and smooth, too smooth..
I also just took a look at the swell prediction charts and it seems they have all of a sudden down graded their previous predictions. Now they are only saying we should see a slight bump in wave height later in the day. Then it looks like (if they don’t change their minds again lol) we are only going to be seeing waves down on those southern facing locations like Uluwatu etc .
Speaking of which I’ll be heading down to Uluwatu later this morning to try and get ya’s a look at todays surfing action down on the Bukit , so check in later this afternoon if ya get the time. Actually Dewa made was down at Uluwatu yesterday and managed to shoot 6 minutes of Digital Video for us. So I’ll also be taking a look at the later on today and edit ya’s up a NEW VIDEO CLIP or two .
Weather wise out there today there won’t be any complaints in that department. Blue sky and sunshine to start us off. Right now at 8.00am the temperature would already be a very pleasant 25 degree’s Celsius and we should be feeling 30 degree’s Celsius by midday.
Ok Troy is still working on getting those tide charts for the rest of the year made up and loaded and hopefully you’ll be seeing those on baliwaves.com soon. We are also just about there for the release of the New Look baliwaves.com website , me personally I can’t wait for it. It’s been a long time coming but there’s also been a hellova lotta work gone down to make it happen.
Yesterday I also made it up to visit the DATAH PRIMARY SCHOOL . While I was there we discussed the proceedings for the repairs to the old existing wall and New Gate and entrance way into the school. The total cost of this was calculated at Rp13,270,000.00 (AU$1,350.00 give or take a dollar) including labour costs. I presented Rp11,500,000.00 to the school committee to get the ball rolling. And we still have enough left in the Kitty to complete the project. Work will start tomorrow the 20th of March and is estimated to be completed within a months time. Then we’ll start work on paving their assembly area, but one job at a time. So by my next visit to Datah Primary I’ll get you a full report and some photos of the progress. I also took up with me on yesterdays visit 100 new exercise books and a heap of pens, pencils and colouring pencils for the kids.
Another thing I couldn’t help but notice while I was on the beach, was the increased amount of beach front damage that’s happened at the Pantai Restaurant / Ma Jolley and Bali Bintang Ramada Hotels . You can see the photos I took of the destruction in the KUTA CAM GALLERY .
