**** AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE **** Hello surfers and thanks for waiting around for me to get back from Uluwtau with the latest surf and weather information . My first surf check went down on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban at 6.45am . Wave height had increased into the 1-2ft+ range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left , while the wind was coming lightly outta the NNW@ 2-4knot. Tide wise it was just coming off the bottom of a 0.2mtr Low and on the run back in for a big 2.6mtr High @ midday .
So with that info in the brain back I went back to Home Base, grabbed my camera and pointed my old motor bike south towards Uluwatu . I turned up at 9.45am to see some pretty clean waves breaking on the Main Peak in the 2-4ft range . The wind by then was tending more to the WNW but still not too strong and surfing conditions were pretty clean and glassy still. As ya’s can see in these latest photos to come outta Indonesia . All in all crowd levels were nice and low and woulda only peaked at something like 20 surfers. I didn’t stick around that long because of the approaching High tide surf conditions were getting too fat and full.
Weather wise it’s been another part sunshine and part cloud covered day but at least to this point in time there’s been no rain fallen. Temperature wise right now at 12.45pm the mercury would be sitting around the 28-29 degree Celsius mark.
Tomorrow we have a little surfing road trip planned so I won’t be throwing a surf report up until we get back, so bare with us. I’ve also had some contact from the boys at the Kandui Surf Resort up in the Mentawai islands and pretty soon they’ll be feeding us with surf reports and photos fresh outta the Ments. Not too mention that our roving surf photographer Scotto Thompson will be back in Bali in a few more weeks providing a pelethera of surf photos for us. Then of course there’s the new look baliwaves.com that Troy assure’s me will be on-line by the end of this month.
Ok so have a good one and we hope to see ya’s out there in the line-up somewhere in Bali this year…
On the 18th I made it up to visit the DATAH PRIMARY SCHOOL . While I was there we discussed the proceedings for the repairs to the old existing wall and New Gate and entrance way into the school. The total cost of this was calculated at Rp13,270,000.00 (AU$1,350.00 give or take a dollar) including labour costs. I presented Rp11,500,000.00 to the school committee to get the ball rolling. And we still have enough left in the Kitty to complete the project. Work will start tomorrow the 20th of March and is estimated to be completed within a months time. Then we’ll start work on paving their assembly area, but one job at a time. So by my next visit to Datah Primary I’ll get you a full report and some photos of the progress. I also took up with me on yesterdays visit 100 new exercise books and a heap of pens, pencils and colouring pencils for the kids. NEXT VISIT TO THE SCHOOL WILL BE AROUND THE 28TH OF MARCH
Another thing I couldn’t help but notice while I was on the beach, was the increased amount of beach front damage that’s happened at the Pantai Restaurant / Ma Jolley and Bali Bintang Ramada Hotels . You can see the photos I took of the destruction in the KUTA CAM GALLERY . The place looks like a war zone….
