**** AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE **** Hello friends and thanks for dropping in for the news on todays surf and weather conditions here in Bali . Well I took my first look at the Outer Reefs here in Tuban at 6.30am. Wave height had slightly increased in size but nothing like what the swell prediction charts were calling in.
This morning we had a 0.6mtr Low around 7.00am and the wind was coming outta the NNE @ 2-4knot . Wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport Left was breaking at 2-3ft+. It was too low for any quality waves at Kuta Reef or Airports at the time. But Middle Reef was breaking nicely in the head to head high plus class. Unfortunately for the boys that had made the early morning effort to get out there and do some surfing I was told there were two surf schools holding class out there. Yes you heard me right, two groups of European surf schools were out on Middle Reef through the low tide trying to learn to surf. What the hell is going on !!!
Anyway I’m just glad I waited for the tide to turn and start running back in before heading out to Kuta Reef @ 8.30am , as ya’s can see in these latest photos outta Bali. KR was breaking ok but only in the waist to head high range with something like 12-15 surfers in the line-up. By this time the wind had fully swung to the ESE (Tradewind) and straight off-shore from Legian to Uluwatu. It was good fun out there with a happy crew of surfers in the water, up until around 10.30am as the tide started to rush back in for a 2.6mtr High set for 1.00pm.
Weather wise we had a mixture of cloud and blue sky through the morning but now at 2.00pm it’s clear blue sky. The ESE-SE off-shore Tradewind has also slowly increased in strength through out the morning as it does through the Dry Season, and now is hooking through at 8-12knot+.
Ok, so plenty of fun sized waves around the island today with clear sky and off-shore wind between Legian and Uluwatu. I’m hoping that we’ll still have some waves left tomorrow but maybe we’ll have to head down to Uluwatu to find them. While you’re here check out the latest photos and surf information from the Mentawai islands courtesy of the boys from the Kandui Surf Resort. And you’ll also find that Scott has sent through some more photos and info from the Super Bank and D-Bah on Australia’s North Coast.
For the surfer / fisherman out there, and isn’t there a little bit of fisherman in all of us ? Well you guys can take a look at the freshly up dated fishing report and photos from the last couple of days sport fishing here in Bali.
