**** MIDDAY SURF UP-DATE **** Welcom back to the one and only baliwaves.com daily (7/7) surf and weather report website . This morning I never made it down for the surf recon of the Outer Reefs until 6.30am. My first impression was that wave height had already dropped off a touch from yesterday and that the wind was coming outta the NNE @ 2-4knot .
The tide was almost on the bottom of a 0.7mtr Low (6.30-7.00am) and wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport Left was showing in the 1-2ft+ range . Nothing really surfable on either Kuta Reef or Airports but Middle Reef did have a few waist to shoulder high plus set waves coming through. And even at that time of the morning there was already some thing like 10 surfers out there, and more climbing into reef taxis at the same time.
The boys and I from here at Home Base had already decided last night that we would be heading for Uluwatu today. We made the scene at 8.00am to see waves peeling off at 2-3ft+ and only 15 surfers in the water between the Main Peak and Racetrack sections. The wind was clean off-shore so the boys hit it straight away while I sat out and set up my 1000mm lens and SLR. As ya’s can see in these latest photos outta Indo it was tube ride city for the first couple of hours. Then as the tide started to fill back in the surfing focus shifted back across to the Main Peak. There were also 10 surfers further up the reef riding Temple’s and getting some rides well over the 100yrd mark. By the time we had lunch the boys threw off going back out for a second surf seeing as though the number of surfers in the water had grown to 80. But hey the waves were pretty darn good and Uluwatu was the place to be today , if you were here in Bali.
Weather wise it was hot hot hot down at Uluwatu and the temperature woulda at least been hitting 32 degree’s outta the shade. And come another hour or so it’s gunna be Bintang o’clock here at Home Base.
The boys from the Kandui Surf Resort have also sent us more photos and reports so check out whats happening up in the Mentawai’s. plus our man Scott Thompson has also been keeping an eye on the surf down under on Australia’s Northern beach’s . You can check out what Scott has for ya’s on the Reader’s Report page. It shouldn’t be long now either and Scotto will be back here in Bali shooting for the baliwaves.
For the surfer / fisherman out there, and isn’t there a little bit of fisherman in all of us ? Well you guys can take a look at the freshly up dated fishing report and photos from the last couple of days sport fishing here in Bali.
