April 11 surf report We had our alarms set for 5 this morning, hoping to catch some Rifles or Kandui’s, depending on the wind. But when the clock rang to get up, everyone heard the pelting rain and howling winds so we all slept for while longer. Slowly, we got it together while the wind backed off. 4 Bobs was showing some size as we were drinking coffee and eating. It was hard to get motivated knowing that probably our only choice was big, less that good conditions, Bankvaults. We probably didn’t leave the beach until 9, then headed straight to Bankvaults. It was a little bit funky, but plenty clean enough by that time so we jumped in. Waves were a little bigger than yesterday and there was no one out. We pretty much had it that way the whole morning and into the afternoon with only a couple of other guys paddling out the entire time. The conditions keep getting better and some sick waves were coming through. One of our return guests, now surf guide, Drew said it was probably the best session he has ever had out there. Looking at the pictures he got, that is not hard to believe! Those that didn’t want Bankvaults surfed Nipusi, which was clean and way overhead as well, or 4 Bobs which had cleaned up from the morning and was overhead and fun. In the afternoon, we hung close to the resort, surfing 4 Bobs, John Candy’s, and Karambat Left. It was a really fun day for everyone!
April 10th surf report It looked like the swell was a little bigger today out front. The wind was blowing out of the northeast at about 5 plus mph. We were thinking Bankvaults. I had some work piling up on the island, so I decided to stay. Bad call! It was double overhead plus at Bankvaults and conditions were good. Our guys scored big! People were getting barreled one wave after another! It was a little too much for some of the guys, so they went over to Beng Beng. It was head high there and no one was out. They had fun as well, until a big storm came in and chased everyone back to the resort. In the afternoon, 4 Bobs couldn’t have looked any better with head high plus waves rolling through and a few of our crew got on it, but there was a boat going to Bankvaults and I wasn’t going to miss it 2 times in one day! Unfortunately, it was still a little sick from the storm so the guys on the boat surfed Nipusi instead. It was pretty good Nipusi. Well overhead, glassy, and no one out. But it wasn’t Bankvaults! For me and our surfguide Drew, it was Bintang time. We decided to save our energy. Better things may be in store for tomorrow!
