**** AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE**** Hello my fine friends of Bali and welcome back to the baliwaves.com daily (7/7) surf and weather report website. And I’d just like to let ya’s know that we don’t just focus on one location and that we don’t use a digimatic to shoot our images. No sir, we are proud to show ya’s as many different surfing locations as we can around Bali . And just as proud to have the highest quality photos and video clips that we can provide.
Ok I’ve got a few things for ya’s today, besides these latest photos from Uluwatu that our man Scott was happy to shoot for us.
First up I better del iver the news on most importantly, the surf. Our first tide today was 1.1mtr Low around midday and then followed up with a 1.7mtr High around sunset . Wind direction has been clean and true coming outta the ESE-SE @ 5-9knot and off-shore between Legian and Uluwatu.
Not a real lot happening on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban today with wave height down in the 1-2ft range (waist to shoulder high on the set waves) between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. That’s just about how big they were up along the beach breaks of Kuta as well. Down at Uluwatu Scott reckoned wave height was in the 2-4ft class, 4ft on the freak sets. But here’s what Scotto had to say about his day down at Ulu.
“I had my alarm set for 5:20am today so that I could get down to Uluwatu as the sun came up. When I woke I could hear the rain that was coming down, so I rolled over and went back to sleep till 7am. This time I could not hear the rain falling so I got up and organised. I took my rain gear just in case and I had not got 5 minutes down the road when the rain started to bucket down again. I pulled over donned the gear and kept going. See you folks are lucky cause negotiating the peak hour traffic in pouring rain on motorbike laden with expensive camera gear is not my idea of fun. Anyway I arrived safe at my destination but it was still a little overcast but not raining thankfully. Conditions were clean but with the tide running out I think that things would be even better for the afternoon session when it pushs back in. Waves were in the 2-3ft range with around 40 people in the water already spread from temples to the racetrack sections of reef. Over the next four hours that I was there the crowd grew and changed but remained reasonable most of the time. It didn’t rain on the way back and I think the remainder of the day is going to be very pleasant on the beautiful island of Bali . Ok thats it for today, till next timeâ€
Weather wise around here the day started off with intermittent showers that lasted through till around 11.00am and then it’s been 50/50 blue sky and cloud since. Even so the tempe rature woulda maxed out around the 29 degree Celsius notch.
Swell Forecast ; Well hold onto your hats crew because hopefully starting sometime in the next 24hrs we should start to see the next swell starting to hit our reef and beach brea ks around Bali . Hopefully this will be our first swell of the season and wave height should get into the 6ft+ range on the open facing locations. But that’s not all folks, nope, just behind this first swell is another one of equivilant size and duration so it looks like a good week of surf coming our way and starting real soon.
Mentawai Islands ; our good friends up at the Kan dui Surf Resort have been scoring some nice waves in their part of Ind onesia and have sent us through more photos and reports so make sure ya take at peak at whats been happening up at Kandui.
Changing Dollars to Rupiah : Out on the streets of Kuta you’ll find that 1AU$=Rp8,475 – 1US$=Rp9,200.
Dreamland Developments and beyond ; I was sent an interesting article the other day and might just cheer up a lot of you honest people that have noticed developments along Bali ’s southern coastline getting outta control. If you want to check it out follow this link www.balidiscovery.com
Back Pain : Now this is something I want to tell ya’s about, anyone who has had to deal with it already knows just how disabling it is. I sure as hell do ! Well the good news is that if you’re here in Bali and you get struck down with it or neck, shoulders etc I’ve got the contact you need to see.
