**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Good morning to all you “in the know†surfers tuning in for another round of Bali surf and weather info . Ah as ya’s can see in these photos I loaded up yesterday afternoon Uluwatu was the place to be if you were after waves . You know baliwaves.com is not just about convienience for us we want you guys and girls to see the best of what Bali has to offer. For us to go and shoot these photos at Uluwatu it involves 45 minutes traveling each way from here in Tuban. Then we gotta hang around until there’s some surfers that can do the do in the water.
And for some reason ? Uluwatu seems to be attracting a lot of surfers that shouldn’t be surfing there , for their own safety I mean. For example yesterday I (and everyone else there for that matter) witnessed some guy break his leash and then for the life of him he couldn’t even swim the distance to the shore. He had to have another surfer help him in. While his board only 50 mtrs away was totally ignored. Then there was another guy who couldn’t even lie on his board without falling off in the line up. And he only made it out there by swimming and towing his board behind him. Go figure ? Don’t these people know that Uluwatu is one o the heaviest waves in Indonesia, even if it is only 3-5ft.
Anyway the guy got assisted back to the shore but I don’t know where his board went, and the other guy swam back to the cave towing his board behind him. This mornings 6.00am surf recon of the Outer Reefs here in Tuban is still showing wave height holding in there at 2-3ft between Kuta Reef and Airport Left . The tide was on the bottom of 0.4mtr Low and will be running back in for a solid 2.6mtr High around midday. Wind direction was clean off-shore coming outta the ENE @ 2knot and will more than likely swing further around to the ESE by mid morning.
**** MIDDAY SURF UP-DATE **** So as ya’s can see I made it out to Airport left for a quick paddle with some of the guests staying with us at Home Base . We hit the water around 8.45am as the tide was starting it’s surge back towards the High. By that time there was already around 18 surfers in the line-up, but spread over the two different take off zones. We stayed out till around 10.45am and managed to get a few of the 2-3ft+ waves before the tide started to kill it.
As our boat (reef taxi) got closer to the beach it was more obvious to see the damage being done to the beach front restaurant and adjacent hotels . I managed a few photos from back on the beach and I’ll throw them into the Kuta Cam Gallery for ya’s to shake your heads at.
Weather wise today it’s been a mainly hot and sunny day around Tuban. The wind has been blowing off-shore coming outta the the ESE @ 4-7knots since 7.30am and still is now at 1.40pm.Temperature wise the mercury would peaked at 32 degree’s Celsius outta the shade while the water temp is a solid 23 degre’s Celsius.
There’s also some new photos and surf reports from the good people up at the KANDUI SURF RESORT of the MENTAWAI ISLANDS under our report menue. Here’s another tip for any of you digital photographers heading to Bali .
