**** AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE**** Hello surfers and welcome back to the original baliwaves.com 7/7 daily surf and weather report live outta your favourite surfing holiday destination of Bali . And what a big day we’ve gone and put in for ya’s, so read on.
My first surf recon of the Outer Reefs here in down town Tuban was at 6.30am to find a solid boost in wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. The first of our tides today was 1.8mtr High @ 6.30am then a 1.0mtr Low @ 12.30pm and followed up with another 1.6mtr High on sun down. There was no wind earlier until the ESE-SE off-shore Tradewind kicked in around 9.30am and has been blowing that way since.
As ya’s can see I was out at Kuta Reef shooting todays photos and there were some sick waves peeling off for the 15-20 surfers that were in the line-up. Wave height was pushing double head high on the bigger bombs and with a bit of double suck thrown in for excitement. Stand out surfers were local Tuban boys Wayan Yandai and his good friend Alit. Middle Reef was easily in the 6ft range according to Dave Veral who happened to be out there at the same time I was at Kuta Reef. While Airport left was a bit more sedate in the head to head high plus range.
Canggu ; Our man Scotto was doing his thing with is 600mm lens up at Canggu and you can see the results and Scotto’s wrap on surfing and conditions in the Readers Report.
Padang Padang ; Another good friend of the baliwaves sms’d through that he was surfing at Padang Pa dang through the midday low tide. Set waves were easily pushing the 5-6ft range and spitting barrels. Impossible’s was also brea king in the 6ft range and wrapping down the mile lone reef.
Weather wise Well today on the baliwaves.com scale of weather we’d be unfair not to give her a 10 outta 10. Blue sky, off-shore wind, warm water and swell, try comparing that to your local today.
Mentawai Islands : Well like clockwork the guys from the Kandui Surf Resort have sent us through another surf update from there region of Sumatra . And pretty soon we’ll also have images and reports for ya’s to check out from the Macaronis Resort in the Mentawai islands as well.
G-Land ; I had a pnone call from G-Land this morning and Raymond said to tell you guys and girls that he’ll give you 15% discount off the published price. Just click on his G-Land banner over in our banner advertisement section and drop him an email.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta and the Aussie dollar is just getting stronger and stronger, currently 1AU$=Rp8,745 while 1US$=Rp9,175.
Swell Forecast ; (9th May – 15th may) It’s all happening here in Bali folks. Small waves today before we should start to see a new system showing sometime late tomorrow afternoon and then building into a 6-8ft+ swell over the weekend. This should continue into next week with another system riding in on it’s back and keeping wave height in the medium to solid class and then furth er out towards the end of next week yet another solid swell system moving in on us. I’ll be writing up a new swell forecast for ya’s tomorrow morning on whats gunna be happening over the next week ok.
Rusty’s Rumble surfing contest which has been running at Sanur Reef on the East coast of Bali has been scoring some sick waves for Ind onesia ’s best surfers and if you want to check out how it’s been going so far (finals yet to come) take a look in our Stories section of baliwaves.com or visit the ISC website.
