**** AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE**** Howdy folks and I thought I’d better keep ya’s up ta date with whats been happening here on your holiday island of Bali . Well not a lot changed on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban. Wave height has remained in the waist to shoulder high plus range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left and there were quite a few surfers making the most of the fun sized conditions and warm water. I did hear one report from my good friend Pucko who was surfing at Airport Rights and reckon that there were some nice ones coming through with the occasional 4 footer thrown in. Wind direction swung to the ESE-SE around 9.30am and has remained there ever since.
Scott made it back from where he was at Canggu today and these are his latest photos and here is what Scott has to say on surfing conditions up there. “I checked the internet last night to see what the swell was going to be doing today, and it was saying that swell size was going to back off. With this in mind I headed straight up to Canggu and found that the internet was correct with waves in the 2ft plus range. A very different situation from yesterday thats for sure. Conditions were very clean and glassy with the odd bigger wave coming through. Sets were regular and consisitent. The wind was light and offshore and stayed that way for the three hours that I was standing on the beach. The crowd was at about 20 when I arrived spread over two of the peaks and grew to around 50 while I was there but spread over three or four of the peaks so it was still pretty managable. The weather is perfect here with blue skys shining great little waves that looked heaps of fun to be surfing, and I was itching to have a crack at them. Tomorrow I have a friend turning up on the island so I will be catching up with him, so surfing plans will have to be put on hold for another couple of days I suppose. On the bright side I think we are going to be seeing another little pulse in swell size over the next couple of days so stay tuned things are just warming up over here in this this beautiful paradise called Bali. Till next time. Scottoâ€
**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE**** Good morning surfers and thanks for stopping by for the baliwaves.com daily surf and weather report. Well I took my time going down to check surfing conditions today as I kinda guessed (re: swell forecast) that wave height woulda dropped back a bit more today.
So at 7.15am wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport left was showing in the 1-2ft+ range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. The first of our tides today is a 2.2mtr High @ 8.30am then we’ll have a 0.6mtr Low around 2.30-3.00pm. What wind there is at the moment is coming outta the NNE @ 1-2knot but will turn to the ESE-SE sometime around mid morning.
Small waves on the Outer Reefs, Kuta Reef and Airport Left were brea king but only in the waist to waist high plus range while Middle Reef was pushing shoulder high plus on the bigger set waves. Middle Reef will improve after the High tide passes and starts to run back out.
Scotto has gone back up to Canggu this morning and phones through to say that there were some ok waves brea king in the waist to head high class with somewhere around 15-20 surfers in the water at 6.45am. Scott will have some new photos for us to look at when he gets back to Home Base and I’ll throw em up for ya’s with the afternoon surf up-date.
I’d have to imagine that Uluwatu would be the top location for a paddle this morning with head to head high plus waves for the crew down there. Yesterday the final’s of the Rusty Rumble in the Jungle surfing contest were run over at Sanur Reef and the boys were lucky and scored some nice waves to finish off with. Made Awan was the man of the day surfing his way from round 1 right through to No.1. You can read the full report on the event on the ISC website or in the baliwaves.com Stories section.
Weather wise around Tuban this morning we have another classic holiday type day coming on for the lucky ones here on vacation. Blue sky and sunshine and right now at 8.15am the tempe rature is just reaching 25 degree’s Celsius heading for a maximum of 30 C.
Swell Forecast (16th May – 22nd May) Well the last week has produced some solid swell through out Ind onesia that’s for sure. From Sumbawa in the East to Sumatra to the West and Bali and G-Land in between. Next week we’ll still be doing plenty of surfing as well but in more moderate conditions. This current swell we still have showing today will continue to back off until our next little boost starts to appear around Sunday morning. Not quite as big as the last swell but it should still be producing some good waves on the Reefs through till Monday before starting to taper off. Then furth er out around Wednesday there’s another smaller system moving in on us that will be showing best on the more open south facing locations. So I hope your hear to enjoy it all !
Mentawai islands ; The good guys from the Kandui Surf Resort have sent us through another new batch of photos showing off more perfection in their part of Ind o. And you’ll be able to suss them out in the Surf Report section. Here’s another baliwaves bonus for ya’s dept; Anyday now we’ll also be providing ya’s with surf reports and photos from the Macaronis Surf Resort up in the Mentawai’s. That’s where they’ll be heading. The Surf Resorts up there just make it all too easy for their guests with speed boats to zap you around all day and then back to the Resort for R & R in the evenings.
