**** MIDDAY SURF UP-DATE**** Well Scotto has made it back to Home Base with the bacon, and here’s what he had to say. “After being woken by the phone ringing at 6:30am I made myself get out of bed. I have had a shocking nights sleep having been awake from 1:30am through to 5am. But I was awake now so I organised myself and knowing theres not a lot of swell at the moment I headed for Padma St and the beach breaks of Kuta. on arrival there was half a dozen surfers in the water with clean 2ft waves hitting the sand bank. Every now and then a 3ft set would find its way into the beach and the surfers would happily take it apart. There was a mix of average and hot surfers out in the water. Lee wilson paddled out as I packed up and headed home and I’m sure that it would have been good photo opportunity. The sun is out today and as I have another appointment I hope these early morning shots of the beach breaks fill your surfing apetite for the day. OK I gotta run, till next time, Scottoâ€
I don’t know who woulda been calling poor old tired Scotto at that time of the morning……. hehe.
**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE**** Good morning to all you surfers tuning into the baliwaves today for the latest news on Bali ’s surf and weather.
It’s a good lookin day coming on for the lucky crew here in Bali and my 6.15am surf check of the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was even showing a slight bump in wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport Left, as per swell forecast.
The first of our tides today is going to be a 2.6mtr High around 11.00am and then a 0.1mtr low at 5.00pm. Wind direction is already coming lightly outta the ESE @ 1-2knot and should slowly increase in strength through out the morning.
Once again not much surf showing on Kuta Reef, only waist high at best. There was one lone surfer out on Middle Reef and I watched him take off on a couple of waves that were easily over head and peeling. Airport Left also had some waist to head high waves brea king and will improve with a bit more water over the reef.
Uluwatu would be the best bet for a bit more size and power this morning while the tide is running up. Keramas and Nusa Dua would also have some good waves early this morning for the crew chasing right handers.
Scotto is hitting the road shortly and should have some photos for us by midday so drop by later this afternoon for the wrap up on surfing conditions around Bali . Tomorrow if all goes to plan the crew and I from here at Home Base are planning on making a road trip up the coast and we’ll fill ya’s in on that when we get back.
Weather wise today like I mentioned it’s good looking day coming on with plenty of blue sky and sunshine for the beach lovers. We should be expecting a top tempe rature of around 30 degree’s Celsius outta the shade while the water tempe rature is sitting around the 23 degree Celsius mark.
Swell Forecast (16th May – 22nd May) Well the last week has produced some solid swell through out Ind onesia that’s for sure. From Sumbawa in the East to Sumatra to the West and Bali and G-Land in between. Next week we’ll still be doing plenty of surfing as well but in more moderate conditions. This current swell we still have showing today will continue to back off until our next little boost starts to appear around Sunday morning. Not quite as big as the last swell but it should still be producing some good waves on the Reefs through till Monday before starting to taper off. Then furth er out around Wednesday there’s another smaller system moving in on us that will be showing best on the more open south facing locations. So I hope your hear to enjoy it all !
Mentawai islands ; The good guys from the Kandui Surf Resort have sent us through another new batch of photos showing off more perfection in their part of Ind o. And you’ll be able to suss them out in the Surf Report section. Here’s another baliwaves bonus for ya’s dept; Anyday now we’ll also be providing ya’s with surf reports and photos from the Macaronis Surf Resort up in the Mentawai’s. I was talking to a couple of friends yesterday who have been out on charter in the Ments and they reckon if they ever make it back up there again they won’t be going on a boat after stopping off in the Surf Resorts. That’s where they’ll be heading. The Surf Resorts up there just make it all too easy for their guests with speed boats to zap you around all day and then back to the Resort for R & R in the evenings.
G-Land ; I had a pnone call from G-Land this morning and Raymond said to tell you guys and girls that he’ll give you 15% discount off the published price. Just click on his G-Land banner over in our banner advertisement section and drop him an email.
