**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE**** Howdy crew and welcome back to your baliwaves for the daily run down on surf and weather conditions around Bali . Well I made the first surf recon of the Outer Reefs at 6.30am and wave height between Kuta Reef and Airports is still pretty much the same as yesterdays 1-2ft+. Maybe just a fraction smaller if anything.
The first of our tides today is going to be another big 2.6mtr High through Midday then and equally big / small Low of 0.1mtrs around 6.00pm. Wind direction this morning is already blowing hard outta the ESE-SE @ 8-12knot and straight off-shore between Legian and Uluwatu.
Pretty much a carbon copy of yesterday surfwise on the Outer Reefs with only the odd 1-1ft+ wave brea king on Kuta Reef. Shoulder to head high waves hitting Middle Reef and waist to shoulder high down on Airport Left. Scotto is already down at Uluwatu as I type and we’ll have a whole new batch of photos for ya’s around midday with the full run down on surfing conditions at Uluwatu
The beach breaks up around the Half Way stretch will be looking pretty good again from late morning through till early afternoon. And you can count out Canggu with the wind already strong outta the ESE it’ll be cross / on – shore up there.
The boys staying with us here at Home Base called a meeting last night about todays proposed road trip up north and in the end we pulled the plug with the forecast for strong ESE wind. That’s exactly what we didn’t want where we were heading.
Weather wise this morning and unlike surfing conditions it’s the exact opposite with a sky full of rain heavy clouds in every direction. Right now @ 7.30am it’s only light drizzle but there’s every chance of rain to come. Hopefully by midday we’ll be back to blue sky and sunshine.
Swell Forecast (16th May – 22nd May) Well the last week has produced some solid swell through out Ind onesia that’s for sure. From Sumbawa in the East to Sumatra to the West and Bali and G-Land in between. Next week we’ll still be doing plenty of surfing as well but in more moderate conditions. This current swell we still have showing today will continue to back off until our next little boost starts to appear around Sunday morning. Not quite as big as the last swell but it should still be producing some good waves on the Reefs through till Monday before starting to taper off. Then furth er out around Wednesday there’s another smaller system moving in on us that will be showing best on the more open south facing locations. So I hope your hear to enjoy it all !
Mentawai islands ; The good guys from the Kandui Surf Resort have sent us through another new batch of photos showing off more perfection in their part of Ind o. And you’ll be able to suss them out in the Surf Report section. Here’s another baliwaves bonus for ya’s dept; Anyday now we’ll also be providing ya’s with surf reports and photos from the Macaronis Surf Resort up in the Mentawai’s. I was talking to a couple of friends yesterday who have been out on charter in the Ments and they reckon if they ever make it back up there again they won’t be going on a boat after stopping off in the Surf Resorts. That’s where they’ll be heading. The Surf Resorts up there just make it all too easy for their guests with speed boats to zap you around all day and then back to the Resort for R & R in the evenings.
G-Land ; I had a pnone call from G-Land this morning and Raymond said to tell you guys and girls that he’ll give you 15% discount off the published price. Just click on his G-Land banner over in our banner advertisement section and drop him an email.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta and the Aussie dollar is just getting stronger and stronger, currently 1AU$=Rp8,800 while 1US$=Rp9,300
