**** AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE **** Well Scotto has made the run down and back to Uluwatu and brought home the bacon with some new photos of todays action. Check out the images and read on for Scott’s full wrap on surfing conditions at Uluwatu today.
“Rain Rain go away come again another day. Yep overcast and the odd shower of rain is what I found this morning as I headed down to Uluwatu. Looking out my window I could see that the wind was already blowing strong out of the southwest which meant Canggu was out. So I packed the gear and headed south. I had got only about half way when the rain started and it didn’t stop till after I had arrived. Condtions were clean but were only small. Most waves were only in the 2-3ft range. There was the odd bigger one but mostly it was just a pretty fun session if you wonted to get wet. The wind got stronger over the time that I was there and when I left there was a definte chop on the water surface. I would imagine that this afternoon on the Racetrack with a lower tide things could be fun as that section of reef starts to reel off some nice little waves.
The crowd was pretty mellow on arrival with maybe half a dozen up on the Temples section of reef and another 20 on the main peak through to the racetrack. Over the three hours that I was there the crowd grew to around 40 on the peak and temples was up to a dozen.
There was some excitment though when four of the indonesian fighter pilots decieded to do a low fly past of the Bukit. Nearly everyone in the warung nearly jumped out of thier place and off the side, as they buzzed the point Top Gun stlye.
The weather stayed overcast and I got rained upon on the way home also. Right now as I type this up the rain has eased but the cloud cover is still about. This is not a bad thing as the humidity is cooled and things become a lot more heat friendly. As for me I’ve got a few things to keep me occuppied over the next few hours but I hope you all are getting your daily wave fix right here on Baliwaves. Till next time. Scottoâ€
**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Howdy crew and welcome back to your baliwaves for the daily run down on surf and weather conditions around Bali . Well I made the first surf recon of the Outer Reefs at 6.30am and wave height between Kuta Reef and Airports is still pretty much the same as yesterdays 1-2ft+ . Maybe just a fraction smaller if anything.
The first of our tides today is going to be another big 2.6mtr High through Midday then and equally big / small Low of 0.1mtrs around 6.00pm . Wind direction this morning is already blowing hard outta the ESE-SE @ 8-12knot and straight off-shore between Legian and Uluwatu.
Pretty much a carbon copy of yesterday surfwise on the Outer Reefs with only the odd 1-1ft+ wave brea king on Kuta Reef . Shoulder to head high waves hitting Middle Reef and waist to shoulder high down on Airport Left . Scotto is already down at Uluwatu as I type and we’ll have a whole new batch of photos for ya’s around midday with the full run down on surfing conditions at Uluwatu
The boys staying with us here at Home Base called a meeting last night about todays proposed road trip up north and in the end we pulled the plug with the forecast for strong ESE wind. That’s exactly what we didn’t want where we were heading.
Weather wise this morning and unlike surfing conditions it’s the exact opposite with a sky full of rain heavy clouds in every direction. Right now @ 7.30am it’s only light drizzle but there’s every chance of rain to come. Hopefully by midday we’ll be back to blue sky and sunshine.
Swell Forecast (16th May – 22nd May) Well the last week has produced some solid swell through out Ind onesia that’s for sure. From Sumbawa in the East to Sumatra to the West and Bali and G-Land in between. Next week we’ll still be doing plenty of surfing as well but in more moderate conditions. This current swell we still have showing today will continue to back off until our next little boost starts to appear around Sunday morning. Not quite as big as the last swell but it should still be producing some good waves on the Reefs through till Monday before starting to taper off. Then furth er out around Wednesday there’s another smaller system moving in on us that will be showing best on the more open south facing locations. So I hope your hear to enjoy it all !
Mentawai islands ; The good guys from the Kandui Surf Resort have sent us through another new batch of photos showing off more perfection in their part of Ind o. And you’ll be able to suss them out in the Surf Report section. Here’s another baliwaves bonus for ya’s dept; Anyday now we’ll also be providing ya’s with surf reports and photos from the Macaronis Surf Resort up in the Mentawai’s. I was talking to a couple of friends yesterday who have been out on charter in the Ments and they reckon if they ever make it back up there again they won’t be going on a boat after stopping off in the Surf Resorts. That’s where they’ll be heading. The Surf Resorts up there just make it all too easy for their guests with speed boats to zap you around all day and then back to the Resort for R & R in the evenings.
G-Land ; I had a pnone call from G-Land this morning and Raymond said to tell you guys and girls that he’ll give you 15% discount off the published price . Just click on his G-Land banner over in our banner advertisement section and drop him an email.
