**** AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE **** Hello again crew and here’s the latest report and photos from down at Uluwatu thanks to our man on the scene Scotto. And here’s what Scott had to say on surfing conditions down there today.
“I was up pretty early today but only made it down to Uluwatu at 8:30am . It was still the bottom of the tide so as it started to push things were only going to get better. I hang around for about 3hours and when I left there was some great action happening on the main peak. Waves had started to come in at around 4ft and everyone who was game enough to pull in was going to get barrelled. It was turning into a pretty good session. There was a strong wind but the cliff was giving some protection from its full force. There was around 40+ surfers in the water spread from the main peak and down into the racetrack . There was also another dozen who made the long paddle up into the temples section of reef, and they were scoring big time, making that long paddle up the point worth while. There was also a couple of guys picking off a few out wide of the main peak, just on the edge of the bombie . So if you wonted a wave today there was plenty of options down at Uluwatu to choose from”
“The standouts for me today were “Garut” and “Bol”. Both were scoring long tube rides and doing some pretty sick turns. “Bol probably took it out in my opinion with one 5-6second tube from way back before coming out and laying a huge gouge and pulling in again. Things were getting better as I left but I was already tired and I was not sure if I was going to make it home on the fuel I had. There is a shortage at the moment as fuel has gone up and everyone wonted their fill before it increased. Lucky though I made it to a servo and didn’t have to push the bike. Anyway I paid the new higher price and filled up. Then it was back home to deliver the goods to you guys. Hope you enjoy todays photos as these are how it was today on the beautiful island of Bali . Till next time. Scotto”
**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Good morning surfers and thanks for stopping by the one and only original baliwaves.com daily surf and weather report for another week full of waves here on the happy little holiday island of Bali .
My 6.45am surf check of the Outer Reefs was showing some nice looking waves brea king in the 2-4ft range . The tide was still running out for a 0.9mtr low set for 8.00am and then she’ll be running back in for a 2.1mtr High around 2.00pm. The ESE-SE Tradewind was already blowing hard off-shore in the 8-10knot+ range and will probably increase in strength through out the morning.
Kuta Reef was peeling off some very nice looking waves in the 2-3ft+ range and there was already something like 10-15+ surfers in the water.
Middle Reef as usual was picking up a fair bit more swell at 3-4ft+ but I didn’t see anyone out there at the time.
Airport Left was slightly smaller than Kuta Reef brea king in the 1-3ft range but like Kuta Reef it will also improve as the tide starts to run back in.
Uluwatu would be a good bet for some 3-5 footers this morning and I think our man Scotto is already in transit down there as I type. So hopefully we’ll have yet more new photos coming for ya’s when he gets back to Home Base.
Weather wise we have a partly sunny / cloudy start but you can count on it being just another hot and sunny day by lunch time. Tempe rature wis e the mercury should be maxing out around 29-30 degree’s Celsius outta the shade.
Swell Forecast (23rd May – 29th May) Well it’s certainly looking good for the next week here in Bali swell wis e. Wave height should remain in the 2-3ft+ range for Saturday and then sometime Sunday afternoon we should start to feel a solid swell hitting our reefs from G-land to Sumbawa . This should hold in the 5-8ft range through till Thursday / Friday before fading out and then not long after we should receive another back to back swell. All good for a big week of perfect waves for the lucky ones here in Ind onesia .
Mentawai islands ; The good guys from the Kandui Surf Resort have sent us through another new batch of photos showing off more perfection in their part of Ind o. And you’ll be able to suss them out in the Surf Report section. Here’s another baliwaves bonus for ya’s dept; Anyday now we’ll also be providing ya’s with surf reports and photos from the Macaronis Surf Resort up in the Mentawai’s. I was talking to a couple of friends yesterday who have been out on charter in the Ments and they reckon if they ever make it back up there again they won’t be going on a boat after stopping off in the Surf Resorts. That’s where they’ll be heading. The Surf Resorts up there just make it all too easy for their guests with speed boats to zap you around all day and then back to the Resort for R & R in the evenings.
G-Land ; I had a pnone call from G-Land this morning and Raymond said to tell you guys and girls that he’ll give you 15% discount off the published price . Just click on his G-Land banner over in our banner advertisement section and drop him an email.
