**** AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE **** Well here’s todays new photos thanks to Scotto and here’s what he had to say on surfing conditions down at the ever famous Uluwatu .
Uluwatu , Yep thats the place that 50+ other surfers decieded was the place to be today, and that many people can’t be wrong! Uluwatu was smoking in the 2-4ft range and conditions were fantastic. Good weather, barrells and fine waves. What else could you be wonting on your holiday in Bali . If you were not getting shacked out there today you were not trying hard enough I think.
Everyone seemed to be getting their waves and nearly every wave was offerring a tube ride of sorts. They were maybe not as long as yesterdays barrells but they were definelty much more frequent. There was no real standout today in my opinion but I will give the award for the gutsy “have a go” trophy to a guy on a green board who was paddling into everyting he could, and getting worked. 10/10 for effort I say. I figured he would come in when either he hit the reef or his board decieded enough was enough.
OK there was a little cloud cover today but the sun is still pretty hot. I’ve done my bit so now I’m hopefully going to get a few waves myself up on the beach breaks of Kuta. Till next time. Scotto!
**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** G’Day folks and welcome back to the one and only original (that means the first ever Bali surf report website on the net) baliwaves.com for your daily dose of Bali surf and weather info .
And my 7.30am surf recon of the Outer Reefs today is showing a slight drop in wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. But nev er the less there are still plenty of waves coming through in the 2-3ft+ range . The first of the tides today is going to be a 1.0mtr Low @ 9.00am and then we’ll be heading for a High of 1.9mtrs around 3.00pm. Once again the old ESE-SE Tradewind was producing the off-shore wind from day brea k, currently around 7-10knot and climbing .
Kuta Reef was still providing some nice shaped waist to chest high plus waves and there was already about a dozen surfers out there. But nothing like the waves that were smoking through yesterday afternoon.
Middle Reef was drawing in the most swell on the Outer’s with wave height still in the head to head high plus division and it looked like there were another 10-12 surfers taking advantage of it.
Airport Left also had wave height beaking in the waist to chest high plus and as usual Airports was attracting the most surfer traffic.
Airport Right , well we can count her out with the wind being to strong.
Canggu , likewise with the Tradewind up early the waves would be wind affected.
Uluwatu , Scotto is already in transit down to good old Ulu and wave height should still be in the 3-4ft+ sector when the tide starts to run back in. Tune in for Scotto’s afternoon wrap on surfing conditions down at Uluwatu and for the new photos.
Weather wise around Bali this morning it’s all perfect. Blue sky, sunshine, warm water, off-shore wind and swell.
Swell Forecast (23rd May – 29th May) Well it’s certainly looking good for the next week here in Bali swell wis e. Wave height should remain in the 2-3ft+ range for Saturday and then sometime Sunday afternoon we should start to feel a solid swell hitting our reefs from G-land to Sumbawa . This should hold in the 5-8ft range through till Thursday / Friday before fading out and then not long after we should receive another back to back swell. All good for a big week of perfect waves for the lucky ones here in Ind onesia .
Mentawai islands ; The good guys from the Kandui Surf Resort have sent us through another new batch of photos showing off more perfection in their part of Ind o. And you’ll be able to suss them out in the Surf Report section. Here’s another baliwaves bonus for ya’s dept; Anyday now we’ll also be providing ya’s with surf reports and photos from the Macaronis Surf Resort up in the Mentawai’s. I was talking to a couple of friends yesterday who have been out on charter in the Ments and they reckon if they ever make it back up there again they won’t be going on a boat after stopping off in the Surf Resorts. That’s where they’ll be heading. The Surf Resorts up there just make it all too easy for their guests with speed boats to zap you around all day and then back to the Resort for R & R in the evenings.
And for those who haven’t heard about the terrible accident that happened up in the Mentawai islands last week. Aussie surfer Darren Longbottom while doing some tow in surfing suffered a serious neck injury and is currently in a Singapore hospital unable to be moved.
G-Land ; I had a pnone call from G-Land this morning and Raymond said to tell you guys and girls that he’ll give you 15% discount off the published price . Just click on his G-Land banner over in our banner advertisement section and drop him an email.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta and the Aussie dollar is just getting stronger and stronger, currently 1AU$=Rp8,800 while 1US$=Rp9,300
