**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Good morning surfers and thanks for stopping by the baliwaves.com for another run down on todays surf and weather conditions here in Bali . Well sorry about the no show with yesterdays report but I was ind isposed up in the mountains all day and by the time I got back after 6 hours in the saddle (motor biking) I was just too beat up and called it a day.
But all good again today and at 7.00am the morning surf recon of the Outer Reefs here in Tuban is showing smaller waves again, ranging from 1-2ft+ between Kuta Reef and Airport Left . The first of our tides today was a 1.8mtr High @ 6.00am folled by a 1.0mtr Low at Midday then another 1.6mtr High around 6.00pm . Wind direction is absolutely howling off-shore coming outta the ESE-SE @ 16-20knot.
Kuta Reef was too small and wind affected
Middle Reef brea king in the waist to chest high plus range but wind affected.
Airport Left waist high and wind affected.
Best bet looking for a wave today would be to find a location under a clif face with shelter from the wind. Uluwatu would be the best bet to find just that. Or ya could always go fly a kite.
Weather wise today we had some mean clouds over us through the early am but the wind has hurried them off to somewhere else and now at 8.45am there’s nothing but blue sky and sunsine here on the holiday island of B a l i .
Ok these current photos were taken by Scotto yesterday down at Uluwatu and here’s what Scott had to say on surfing conditions. †This morning I was up and about early again so I jumped on the bike and headed to Uluwatu to see if I could catch some racetrack action. When I arrived at 7:30am the tide was still running out but there was already 30+ surfers in the water. The waves were showing between 2-4ft and sometimes just hitting the racetrack perfect and barrelling off for the lucky rider. As the tide continued to drop to a 1.0 low at around 9-10am the sets were not as consistent but every now and then a really good set would show itself. Just as an indication of what the waves would be like as the tide pushed back in during the afternoon. I only hung around till about 10am so I can only imagine what it would be like. I reakon that there would have been some great waves down there this afternoon. But as I already had another appointment I had to keep these early morning gems will have to do. OK we should see a little push in swell size sometime soon so stay tuned as we bring you the best daily dose of information that money can’t buy! Till next time Scotto â€
Mentawai islands ; The good guys from the Kandui Surf Resort have sent us through another new batch of photos showing off more perfection in their part of Ind o. And you’ll be able to suss them out in the Surf Report section. Here’s another baliwaves bonus for ya’s dept; Anyday now we’ll also be providing ya’s with surf reports and photos from the Macaronis Surf Resort up in the Mentawai’s. I was talking to a couple of friends yesterday who have been out on charter in the Ments and they reckon if they ever make it back up there again they won’t be going on a boat after stopping off in the Surf Resorts. That’s where they’ll be heading. The Surf Resorts up there just make it all too easy for their guests with speed boats to zap you around all day and then back to the Resort for R & R in the evenings.
And for those who haven’t heard about the terrible accident that happened up in the Mentawai islands last week. Aussie surfer Darren Longbottom while doing some tow in surfing suffered a serious neck injury and is currently in a Singapore hospital unable to be moved.
G-Land ; I had a pnone call from G-Land this morning and Raymond said to tell you guys and girls that he’ll give you 15% discount off the published price . Just click on his G-Land banner over in our banner advertisement section and drop him an email.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta and the Aussie dollar is just getting stronger and stronger, currently 1AU$=Rp8,800 while 1US$=Rp9,300
