**** AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE **** Howdy crew and thanks for waiting around for todays run down on what we got surf and weather wise here in Bali today . And it all started with my 6.45am surf recon of the Outer Reefs here in Tuban .
Wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport Left was still hanging in there at 1-3ft and some shapely little peelers breaking on all sections. The first of our tides today was a 1.9mtr High @ 7.00am and then we had a 0.9mtr Low around the 1.00pm mark. Most noticeable today was that the howling ESE-SE Tradewind was absent up until 9.30-10.00am. So surfing conditions were clean and tidy.
Kuta Reef had a couple of surfers out there through the morning and wave height was brea king in the waist to waist high plus range, but a bit of a wait between the sets.
Middle Reef had the odd head high set coming through but with at least a dozen or more surfers taking advantage of them.
Airport Left was also brea king in the waist to shoulder high range and looking the best outta the big 3.
Canggu as ya’s can see in Scotto’s latest photos was providing plenty of waves on all 3 sections and no shortage of surfers. Here’s what Scott had to say on conditions up at Canggu today. “I arrived on scene just before 8am, conditions were clean and fun looking at around 2ft with the odd bigger one. There was the occasional one that was a little bigger but average wise size was around waist to chest high. Unless you were “Garret Parkes” then it was over head. He was ripping and making it all look too much fun. Another standout this morning was “Timmy Curren” who was out enjoying a few waves on the sandbar.
Well the tide was dropping and the wind was getting stronger by around 9:30am so I decieded it was time to pack the gear and head home. Another day’s photos for you guys to enjoy with the most up to date Bali surf info you are going to get. Thats it from me, till next time, Scottoâ€
Weather wise we had some rain through the early hours of the morning and there was still some cloud hanging over us until the Tradewind turned on and shifted it over to Java. Since then it’s been just another hot and sunny day on the holiday island of B a l i .
Don’t forget to call back to the baliwaves.com over the weekend because we’ll be keeping ya’s intouch with Bali all through it as usual.
Mentawai islands ; The good guys from the Kandui Surf Resort have sent us through another new batch of photos showing off more perfection in their part of Ind o. And you’ll be able to suss them out in the Surf Report section. Here’s another baliwaves bonus for ya’s dept; Anyday now we’ll also be providing ya’s with surf reports and photos from the Macaronis Surf Resort up in the Mentawai’s. I was talking to a couple of friends yesterday who have been out on charter in the Ments and they reckon if they ever make it back up there again they won’t be going on a boat after stopping off in the Surf Resorts. That’s where they’ll be heading. The Surf Resorts up there just make it all too easy for their guests with speed boats to zap you around all day and then back to the Resort for R & R in the evenings.
And for those who haven’t heard about the terrible accident that happened up in the Mentawai islands last week. Aussie surfer Darren Longbottom while doing some tow in surfing suffered a serious neck injury and is currently in a Singapore hospital unable to be moved.
G-Land ; I had a pnone call from G-Land this morning and Raymond said to tell you guys and girls that he’ll give you 15% discount off the published price . Just click on his G-Land banner over in our banner advertisement section and drop him an email.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta and the Aussie dollar is just getting stronger and stronger, currently 1AU$=Rp8,800 while 1US$=Rp9,300
