Kandui Surf Resort May 7th surf report
Things were looking pretty familiar our front this morning. South-southeast winds were blowing and it was barely big enough to be ridable out front. We figured it wouldn’t be big enough for Hideaways so we took our time with breakfast and headed to Beng Beng in the late morning. The waves were smaller than yesterday, but still fun. It was head high and clean. Good fun. Those that didn’t go to Beng Beng got to see a cool weather phenomenon. A small, but intense, little thunderstorm that was dumping rain a mile or two out to sea spawned a couple nice water spouts. Big ones! Me and Kaliang jumped in a boat and tried to get close, but they disappeared before we could get close to them. We waited around under the clouds for another one, but only a little one came down and it was still further away so we came gave up. It was fun to be storm chasers for a while though! After that little storm passed, it got calmer and cleaner out front so the guys jumped in a boat and had a look at Nipusi to see how it was looking. Sure enough, it was fairly smooth and overhead. The guys surfed until dark, stoked that they got another fun session in today. We are probably looking at a slow morning tomorrow, but hoping things start to inch up by the afternoon.

Today was pretty much a repeat of yesterday. South-southeast winds and some overhead waves. The guys hit Hideaways in the morning, Beng Beng at midday, then Hideaways again in the afternoon. And, as usual, there was some 4 Bobs mixed in to keep the regular foots happy. Probably looking at smaller surf tomorrow.

Things were looking about the same out front this morning. Kind of small and south-southeast winds. But the new swell we were hoping for would undoubtedly have more west in it so we still had hopes of better waves today. Our first boat headed out early and went to Hideaways to see what was happening there with the morning high tide and a wind that was good for that spot. It wasn’t showing a lot of swell there, but patience is a virtue and our guys waited for the sets and ended up getting some good waves. Our second boat left mid morning as the tide was dropping and they went to Beng Beng. It was clean there as well and head high or so. Our guys ended up having a good time there as well. In the afternoon, some of the guys were interested in catching Hideaways on the late afternoon high tide so they went to check it out. It was a little bigger than this morning and some legitimate waves came through, maybe 2 or 3 feet overhead. Not bad. We are expecting about the same wave height tomorrow morning, then dropping swell for a few day.

It was looking pretty small out front this morning, and the winds were again blowing out of the south at 5 to 10 mph all day. No one was in a big hurry to look for surf early, but a few of the guys mustered up some ambition late morning and surfed slightly bumpy Nipusi. There were overhead sets and nobody was out, so it ended up being a fun surf. A second boat went out after lunch and they headed for Beng Beng. No one was out there as well and the sets were shoulder high once in a while and clean. Actually, it was more fun than they expected and a couple of the guys had just arrived this morning so they were extra stoked! In the afternoon a couple of the guys surfed old, reliable 4 Bobs. It was chest high and side shore, but fun as always! We are hoping that a little forecasted swell from the south-southwest will show up tomorrow
