Datah Primary School Project: Progress Report # 6
Hello friends of our Datah Primary School project and thanks for taking the time to see what’s been happening up at the school since my last progress report.
Well it’s been a very busy month for the cummunity of Datah with quite a lot of different ceremonies taking place. When this happens all other projects stop, being a very tight community these people drop everything to help out with preparations for ceremonies, be it weddings, anniversaries or funerals.
I was back at Datah primary School yesterday and had a lengthy meeting with the Principal and head teachers. They filled me in on what IBM Computers have provided for the school (I was unable to attend the presentation as my family here in Bali had a ceremony for our 3 month old son). But the very good people at IBM have gone and provided Our School with not only a Kid Smart computer but also another 3 desk top PC’s for the teachers and administration ! But before we can set those up we have to address the school security. with the school being set in “the bush” we are looking at ways to make the class rooms more secure as we don’t want to loose these computers.
But that is another objective we are going to add to our list as soon as we get the paving of the assembly area completed. Like I mentioned in the previous progress report we still have Rp10,000,000. available funds for the paving. But after seeing the quote for the completion of this task we are still going to be short of around Rp8,000,000. The total quote was estimated at just under Rp18,000,000. that’s around AU$2,150.00 all up. The total area needed to be paved is around 300sqmtrs. So we are going to start this project with what funds we already have and hopefully we’ll find some kind supporters to help get the job finished.
After we get this job done we are going back to Objective No.2 which is all about getting the school supplied with water. And I think this is one of the more important things we can help achieve. This will be a fairly big job as we will need to lay roughly 1km of piping from the area’s water reservoir to the schools empty water tank along with getting a water pump. But first things first and one job at a time, dust is a big problem at the school and by laying these paving stones in the school assembly area is going reduce this in a big way.
So please if any of you can contribute a donation for these tasks we have at hand please contact us here at baliwaves.com I’ve also loaded some new photos of the 100% completed wall and entrance into the school, along with a couple of old “pre wall” photos so you can see what difference has been made.
Thanks again on behalf of the kids at Datah Primary School.
