**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Good morning to all my friends of Bali tuning in for the baliwaves.com Sunday Session . Hey and I forgot to tell ya’s that yesterday I loaded ya’s up another 80 odd photos into the May Surfing Gallery . So have a squiz at the best waves through May.
Ok I went down for a look at whats happening on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban at 7.00am to find wave height still in that 1-2ft range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left . The first of our tide’s today is going to be a 2.2mtr High @ 8.30-9.00am and then followed up with a 0.5mtr Low around 2.30-300pm . Wind direction is coming outta the ESE –SE @ 6-10knot and will probably increase in strength through out the morning.
Kuta Reef wasn’t really brea king with the approaching high tide and only showing in the knee to waist high when the sets rolled through.
Middle Reef had half a dozen or so surfers on it with wave height showing in the knee to chest high plus range. But with the 2.2mtr high coming on it was a bit too fat, later this afternoon there should be a couple out of ok little waves to be had out there.
Airport Left was faring the best, brea king in the waist to chest high range and peeling off for 20-30yrds. It was also attracting the most amount of surfers with a dozen or more in the line-up.
Kuta beach breaks would be a good option for an easy paddle this morning and you’d probably be able to find a little wave to yourself somewhere along the Kuta to Legian stretch of sand. Scotto just called in to confirm that he is down near Padma st and there are few nice little waves brea king. So tune in later this afternoon for Scotto’s run down and most importantly some more photos !
Uluwatu would be similar to yesterday with waves in the 1-3ft range and that’s where the majority of surfers will be found.
Weather wise it’s a beautiful day shaping up for the lucky crew here on vacation with nothing but blue sky and sunshine.
Swell forecast ; after checking out as much information as I can from the swell prediction guys it looks like we are gunna be in more small waves again through Monday. Then sometime between Monday afternoon and Tuesday afternoon we will score a new swell outta the SW and wave height should go back into the 4-6ft+ range on the open Southern facing locations. This system should provide waves through till Thursday before backing off into the 2-4ft class. Then sometime around Saturday another smaller system will come through and push wave height back into the 3-4ft+ range. So all in all it’s gunna be a good week of waves for the crew over here in Bali / Ind onesia .
Mentawai islands ; The good guys from the Kandui Surf Resort have sent us through another new batch of photos showing off more perfection in their part of Ind o. And you’ll be able to suss them out in the Surf Report section. Here’s another baliwaves bonus for ya’s dept; Anyday now we’ll also be providing ya’s with surf reports and photos from the Macaronis Surf Resort up in the Mentawai’s. I was talking to a couple of friends yesterday who have been out on charter in the Ments and they reckon if they ever make it back up there again they won’t be going on a boat after stopping off in the Surf Resorts. That’s where they’ll be heading. The Surf Resorts up there just make it all too easy for their guests with speed boats to zap you around all day and then back to the Resort for R & R in the evenings.
And for those who haven’t heard about the terrible accident that happened up in the Mentawai islands last week. Aussie surfer Darren Longbottom while doing some tow in surfing suffered a serious neck injury and is currently in a Singapore hospital unable to be moved.
