****MORNING SURF UP-DATE**** Good morning folks and thanks for dropping in to the baliwaves.com for your daily dose of Bali surf and weather info this Sunny Sunday.
Ok well I was up early this morning helping a couple of lads get out for some sport fishing and down on the beach by 6.15am. Wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport Left has dropped off from yesterday, only showing in the 2-3ft range. But there were waves on all 3 sections. The first of our tides today was a 2.2mtr High @ 7.00am and then we’ll see a 0.6mtr Low around the 2.00pm mark. At the time I was on the beach wind direction was coming outta the East @ 10-14knot. But now at 9.00am it has settled back into the 6-10knot class.
Kuta Reef had some fun sized waist to shoulder waves peeling off on the morning High water and there wasn’t any shortage of surfers out there either with around 25 in the line-up.
Middle Reef was showing slightly more size at waist to head high and also no shortage of surfers with another 20-25 out there as well. Middle’s will improve through the afternoon when the tide bottoms out.
Airport Left was only showing in the knee to waist high plus range but only 10-15 surfers on Airports.
Beach Breaks , you woulda found more shapely little waves up along the Half Way to Legian stretch of beachies early this morning while the tide was up
Uluwatu would have the best waves along the West coast today and I’d expect wave height to at least be breaking in the waist to head high plus range for all the crew staying down on the bukit.
Readers Report ; I also loaded up some new photos into the Readers Report page sent into from one of our guests who went out for a bit of Balinese style sport fishing. So if your interested in fishing at all check em out.
Weather wise we had some nasty looking black clouds moving across the sky around day break but they were quickly moved out to sea with the aid of the Tradewind and now there’s nothing but blue sky and sunshine. Temperature wise we should reach the 30 degree Celsius mark by midday. The water temperature has cooled off and yesterday I reckon it woulda been down to a cool 20-21 degree’s Celsius.
Swell Forecast (15th – 22nd June) Well after taking a long look at the available swell prediction sites it looks like for today and most of tomorrow wave height will be remaining in the 2-4ft range depending on location of course. Then late Monday or possibly Tuesday we’ll start to see the next swell hitting the reefs of Ind onesia . I’m pretty sure by Wednesday we are gunna be seeing some very solid waves in the double to quadripple over head size. Wave height will settle down a touch, but not too much come Thursday then continuing to taper off through Friday. Then next weekend there’s gunna be more action with arrival of a second swell pushing wave height back into the 5-6ft+ sector. So get ready for it and if your gunna be here in Ind onesia then ya had better stay tuned to the baliwaves.com for the daily coverage.
Ok As ya’s may have noticed… these current photos are just a few of the one’s I shot from my little 3 day excursion to Scar Reef at the end of last week. I’ve also managed to put together a little 2 minute video clip from Scar’s but I had to slow down the speed because I was filming “hand held†from a rocking boat. But anyway I still think it looks ok and it sure as hell does give you a good idea of the power of a solid wave at Scar Reef on the island of Sumbawa .
Drop me a line if your interested in getting on board a 9.5mtr high powered ocean speed boat if you want to surf locations like Desert Pt, Scar Reef, Supersuck, Yo-Yo’s without having to wait days to get the their the old way. I’m thinking this type of trip is gunna be the New Way to hit Lombok and Sumbawa instead of the old 7 day slow boat system. Especially when it’s priced around the same range but doubling the amount of surf time !
And just a reminder that we still have some baliwaves.com T-Shirts and stickers available for ya’s here in Bali so drop me a line.
Mentawai islands ; The good guys from the Kandui Surf Resort have sent us through another new batch of photos showing off more perfection in their part of Ind o. And you’ll be able to suss them out in the Surf Report section. Here’s another baliwaves bonus for ya’s dept; Anyday now we’ll also be providing ya’s with surf reports and photos from the Macaronis Surf Resort up in the Mentawai’s. I was talking to a couple of friends yesterday who have been out on charter in the Ments and they reckon if they ever make it back up there again they won’t be going on a boat after stopping off in the Surf Resorts. That’s where they’ll be heading. The Surf Resorts up there just make it all too easy for their guests with speed boats to zap you around all day and then back to the Resort for R & R in the evenings.
G-Land ; I had a pnone call from G-Land this morning and Raymond said to tell you guys and girls that he’ll give you 15% discount off the published price. Just click on his G-Land banner over in our banner advertisement section and drop him an email.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta and the Aussie dollar is just getting stronger and stronger, currently 1AU$=Rp8,800 while 1US$=Rp9,140 Give or take a hundred Rupiah.
